A couple of weeks ago I read the IMDB trivia for Battle Royale II . Apparently they wanted to cast Quentin Tarantino as the President of the United States, which strikes me as something that would not work on any level except self-parody. BTW yes, I know that if Battle Royale fans were the only people that voted they would probably elect Quentin Tarantino, but that’s beside the point. Can anyone else come up with completely innapropriate casting decision. It has to be theoretical, and it has to come right out of left field, i.e. no “Keanu Reeves in a role that requires emotion” type comments.
I don’t think the best casting in the world could have saved BRII, sadly.
How about Steve Buscemi in the lead role for the Die Hard series?
“Yippie-kye-ay,…uh…guys…”
Mel Gibson as Hamlet!
Oh . . . wait . . .
Since you mentioned a President…
Andy Dick as John F. Kennedy.
Ashton Kutcher as Syndey Poitier.
Oh, wait…
Dustin Hoffman as John Carter, Warlord of Mars.
John Goodman as Batman
Burt Mustin as Mr. Spock
William Shatner or Adam West as Billy Jack (actually they could have equalled Laughlin’s delivery)
Patrick Stewart as “Ringo” in PULP FICTION
Marlon Brando as James Bond
John Wayne as Captain Kirk
This is fun…
Sir Rhosis
Pee-Wee Herman IS Conan the Barbarian!
Woody Allen as Othello.
Tobey Maguire as a hardened criminal.
I dunno. I could see him in Ed Norton’s role in “Primal Fear”. Or as a conman, or Thomas Ripley. Depends what kind of criminal, I guess.
Steve Zahn as James Bond.
Keanu reeves in anything where the character has a higher IQ than Forrest Gump.
My friends and routinely recast entire movies like this. One of our favorites is Batman & Robin, starring:
Morgan Freeman as Bruce Wayne/Batman
Patrick Stewart as Dick Grayson/Robin
Lindsay Lohan as Barbara Wilson/Batgirl
Tobey Maguire as Victor Fries/Mr. Freeze
Rosie O’Donnell as Pamela Isley/Poison Ivy
Also featuring:
William Shatner as Bane
Keanu Reeves as Commissioner Gordon
And guest-starring The Rotting Corpse of Vincent Price as Alfred Pennyworth
I could see that working too. Elijah Wood has a similar butter-wouldn’t-melt public persona, especially after the LotR trilogy, but he quickly followed that up with parts as a psycopathic, kung-fu fighting cannibal in Sin City and a brutal football hooligan in Green Street.
Vin Diesel as Hannibal…
How about an all-stand-up-comedy version of Full Metal Jacket, with Gilbert Gottfried as G/Sgt. Hartman, Steven Wright as Joker, and Jake Johannsen as Gomer Pyle.
Check that: Steven Wright as Hartman, Gottfried as Joker, and Bobcat Goldthwait as Gomer Pyle.
Hell, Tobey Maguire as Spiderman.
Memoirs Of A Geisha with Rae Dawn Chong in the lead role. (You think the Japanese bitched about Ziyi Zhang…?)
