Also post 4 is another Aussie.
In the under-$10 range (which is just about all I ever buy), I’m fond of Lindeman’s Bin 50 (Southeastern Australia). Runs $7 - 8 around here.
I’ll typically go Lindemann’s, but if I can find it, Woop Woop is a good (and fun-named) label.
Everyone seems to like Yellow Tail. I would go for Green Point shiraz.
*Woop Woop * is an Australianism for a remote spot “someplace way out the back of nowhere”.
If you’re looking for Aussie shirazes, or shiraz blends, I like:
- Leasingham Bastion Shiraz Cabernet (2001’s good)
- Brown Brothers Everton Shiraz Cabernet Malbec (no idea about year, it’s all good).
Both taste terrific and are well under $20 AUD here.
Why not just put in another 4 bucks and get a case of Trader Joe’s “Two-buck Chuck”. It’s actually not that bad.
