Give up Obama! It's your only chance!!

Well, not his only chance but …

He probably will get the nomination… the Dem powerbrokers don’t want to piss off the black vote.

And he could win the general… but I doubt it.

If he doesn’t win, it will be because he is revealed to be the liberal that he is rather than a moderate that he needs to be to win the election. If he doesn’t win he will never get another chance because he won’t be able to put the liberal genie back in the bottle.

Plus he will have made permanent enemies out of the Clintons and much of their machine.

What he needs to do is give the nomination to Hillary in exchange for VP. If they lose, he has it locked up in four years and will be able to run a campaign with all of the MSM on his side and no questions about his liberallness.

If they win, he’s in the an even better position eight years from now.

What makes you think the Dem powerbrokers care enough about the total number of black folks, of which Democrat voters total less that 15% of electorate, to placate them by handing over the nomination only to guarantee losing in the general election (under your described scenario)?

He does not need to be a moderate to win the election.

I just wish he could be made to understand that.

Liberal is not a bad word.

Oh lawsy! Do what he say, do what he saaay!

Please. If the words of other Democrat politicians are anything to go by, the Clintons are squandering much of their political power over this campaign. If they really are to be so feared that making enemies of them is political suicide, Hillary will be able to convince the delegates at Denver to give her the nom anyway. If she can’t, then she pretty clearly doesn’t have the kind of leverage you imply she does.

Exactamundo.

The OP, as written, is splendid display of flawed logic. What you commented on and this:

The MSM isn’t painting him as a liberal now. The Republicans are. And they will paint any Democratic candidate that way.

yeah, like being vice-president to a Clinton was such a good career move for Al Gore…

but seriously, why do people keep saying that Obama being Vice-President positions him well to be elected President? Since the passage of the Twelfth Amendment in 1804, there have been precisely two sitting Vice-Presidents elected straight to the Presidency: Van Buren in 1836, and Bush Sr. in 1988.

Nixon, Humphries and Gore could tell you what an electoral advantage the Veep-ship is at election-time.

There was more than one!!??

Can you give an example of one of his scary liberal stances that will prevent him from being elected and explain why it will keep him from being elected?

What NP was trying to say is he Got Served in the election.

Republicans don’t exactly have their finger on the American pulse these days, either. They got trounced two years ago, their guy is the least admired President in history, and this election was going to be about one thing and one thing only - immigration. I’m not too concerned with what Republicans think.

See - that’s how significant being Veep is - I can’t even remember his damn name!

It’s gonna be a lo-o-o-o-o-o-o-ong goddamned election, isn’t it?

“Gonna be”?

So you’d agree that he’s not showing his true liberal colors?

Can’t you just smell the fear?

would you mind clarifying? Perhaps in the mold of answering my questions from above.

Also, do you care to answer this?

Have they declared him ‘the most liberal Senator in the Senate’ yet? Cuz I want my cookie.

-Joe

I disagree with this reasoning: Being the VP candidate for a failed presidential ticket has been no boon for Edwards.

Nor for Joe Lieberman in 2000, Jack Kemp in 1996, or Dan Quayle in 1992.
