I’m a 23-year-old Canadian from Montreal, Quebec, though I was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, and grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba. My ethnic origins include Scottish, English, German, Korean, and Bohemian.
I’m a freelance translator, returning in January to McGill to get my graduate diploma and with it, professional certification. I previously earned a BA (linguistics) in 2003 and a certificate in translation in 2003, both from McGill.
I identify as a genderqueer gay man, and I’m single. I share an apartment with my best friend, Hamish, and our two cats, Zazou (mine) and Littl’un (his). I am a Wiccan.
I have one younger brother, who like my mother also lives in Montreal. We lost my dad to brain cancer in 2003. My extended family includes my father’s brother and sister who live in Ontario with their families, and my mother’s parents and step-father, who live in California.
I am politically involved in a variety of causes including urban planning, environmentalism, Canadian nationalism, alternatives to globalization, and Queer rights. I am a member of the New Democratic Party; I am the president of the Jeanne-Le Ber New Democratic Association; I have run twice for Parliament, in 2000 and 2002, and I served as co-campaign manager for our candidate this year.
My interests include public transit, city design, painting in acrylics, languages, editing Wikipedia, anime (especially shounen-ai), drag shows, lesbian comedy, world-building, heraldry, and rug-hooking. My favourite musicians are the Pet Shop Boys, Mylène Farmer, and Tori Amos.
I am a Libra, Scorpio rising, moon in Taurus, and was born in the year of the Rooster.
