Just a note to remind people who like to see movies in a theater of its very limited theater run (I will wait until it streams)

Just saw this thus afternoon, and I thought it was a blast. Plenty of humor, and even if it’s not that much of a stretch to figure out the killer, getting there is a lot of twisty-turny fun. Janelle Monae is terrific.
Saw it tonight. It’s a lot of fun, the audience loved it, applause at the end. In fact, I don’t think this movie will play as well for anyone watching it alone on Netflix.
Not sure if it’s as good as the first one, but it’s definitely funnier. Looking forward to seeing it again to see if I missed any clues at the beginning.
Just got to see it last night. I agree that it was a lot of fun. One thing that got me (spoiler ahead) was…
The handoff of the glass to Dave Bautista, I actually noticed it as handing the glass directly to him the first time it was shown, and didn’t recognize when they changed it to a set down/pick up motion. Blanc’s whole thing about the murderer changing our memories worked on me in real time.
It was definitely a lot less serious than the first one, but with nice twists and turns along the way.
Remember tonight, November 29, is the last night in theaters before streaming starts December 23.
Fun, fun movie.
Just remember: believe only what you see. No - believe half of what you see.
That’s the reason I saw the movie in the theater over the weekend, instead of The Fabelmans or The Menu, both of which I also want to see and I hope will still be in theaters this weekend.
I saw this one last night with a sold out crowd and had a great time! One of my top films of the year so far. The audience was totally into it, lots of laughter and applause. I’m really glad I got to see it with a crowd. This is definitely a film I want to watch a second time once it starts streaming.
Argh - why such a short theater run? I thought it was going until the Netflix start and planned on seeing it this weekend. Darn it!
To get people to sign up for Netflix.
I just read that Netflix bought the rights to this and one more sequel. I didn’t realize that. Again, Darn it!
Note that Netflix paid $469 million for the rights to make two sequels to Knives Out (of which this is one), each of which would star Daniel Craig.
For which Rian Johnson and Daniel Craig, each received $100 million for both movies.
Good for them, though I can’t understand how the deal makes financial sense for Netflix.
I just watched it tonight on Netflix and really enjoyed it. Plenty of laughs. Plenty of call outs to “real” people. The story is very twisty and kept me interested the whole time.
J.
The Serena Williams cameo was fantastic. And I’m really impressed this was filmed before the Musk/Twitter fiasco.
Yes. Prescient. Or at least insightful.
Look, there’s a new Rian Johnson-directed Knives Out mystery now available for free on Netflix. Can we all just pause and inbreathiate this moment?
We watched it last night. I really enjoyed it. It wasn’t quite as sharp as I remember the first one being, but still a barrel of fun. Mrs Snowman is a huge Christie fan, and loves how Christie-like these films are.
Personally, I’m not one for private Greek islands, but I’d kill for Blanc’s balcony. Imagine taking coffee there every morning with that view.
Early on, there was a brief cameo of Natasha Lyonne, who many of us have been championing as a prime candidate to play Columbo in a new show. But as that is unlikely to happen, Rian Johnson is producing a new mystery series called Poker Face starring her. So if you want more similar murdery shenanigans, they may be on the way very soon (late Jan 2023).
