Glass Onion (a Knives Out Mystery) was in Theaters Nov. 23 -29, now on Netflix (Dec. 23, 2022)

I read it once somewhere as “Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear.”

I recognised most of the main cast, but I didn’t realise the actress who played Peg was Colleen Wing from Iron Fist.

Glass Onion had a strong Edgar Allan Poe vibe, although I’m not sure it was intentional. Birdie Jay’s and Miles Bron’s parties both have a “Masque of the Red Death” aura, taking place as they do among the rich during a pandemic. The “hidden in plain sight” envelope is akin to “The Purloined Letter”. (I almost wrote “Napkin” for “Letter”!) And the destruction at the end is like “The Fall of the House of Usher.”

We touched on that earlier…

Interesting watch. Thanks for sharing!

The scene where it keeps cutting back to the Mona Lisa every time the cover thunks closed, over and over, reminded me of Tell-Tale Heart.

I did not… that’s hilarious! Seems I need to watch it again just watching Peg.

Sorry, I missed it when I read through this thread.

Watched it last night. Lots of fun.

The one thing that didn’t make sense to me was why Andi got an invitation. Bron had no reason to send one, even if he hadn’t seen her email.

A very trivial nitpick is that the Mona Lisa is painted on a board, not canvas.

If he didn’t send her one, it would imply he knew she wouldn’t be showing up. The invitation sitting in her mailbox would help build the case that he wasn’t involved.

But, why? There was very bad blood between them. No one would question it if she didn’t get an invitation.

He’s a moron.

He’s the sort of dick who pretends that the bad blood is one-sided. Andi might be mad at him, but he’s not mad at her, and he’ll keep inviting her along as if he’s trying to mend fences. It’s a passive-aggressive power move. He’s likely invited her to all the past events as well.

Yes, that’s my impression. It’s all on her that he screwed her over, after all, because she wouldn’t go along with him. But he’s nice and will invite her to inbreathiate with him

Still doesn’t make any sense. He had to know Andi would be a buzzkill at the least.

Also

How did the invite get to Helen?

Of course, that wasn’t the real Mona Lisa. X-rays would have revealed the words “This is a fake” in felt-tip pen.

After my mother died, i picked up all sorts of stuff that was delivered to her. That’s the least implausible piece of the whole story.

a perfectly cromulent word. Well played.

I did, just very briefly. But then quickly realized he was supposed to be more like that Andrew Tate guy (who I was not even aware of until two days ago with the Greta Thunberg thing and then his subsequent arrest).

My take is that the puzzle boxes were contracted out and to be sent to all of them - and this was prior to Andi’s death as well as the court case(?) there was a timeline mentioned about how long it took to set it all up that Blanc ruined in 10 seconds.

I also second the notion that he likely would have sent the box to add a ‘why would I do that if I knew she was dead’ excuse. But I don’t think he was that smart.

IIRC, she specifically said she was going thru Andi’s stuff (at her house) when the box was delivered.
