I may be reading too much into Britney/Artie, but I sense that she is not done with him. I doubt anyone has ever blown her off, so I have a feeling they might play this for something.
Yeah, I agree – that’s why I said there was “plenty of plot” in this episode. It wasn’t hugely eventful (well, other than Artie losing his virginity), but there was a lot going on with relationships, etc., that I hope to see played out for the next few weeks.
Do we know why Puck ended up in jail? Does the actor have another gig or something?
Brit is one of the more interesting minor characters on this show, precisely because she’s more than just a mean girl/cheerio. She seems to fall into that orbit more by accident/influence (of Santana) than because it’s her nature. Remember, Brit was the one who befriended the girl with Down Syndrome way before that girl actually tried out for the Cheerios. Santana dismissed it as being because DS girl was the one person in the school that made Brittany feel smart, but that was Santana saying that, so who knows if it’s true or if it’s either something Brittany told her to cover for being nice or if it’s something Santana made up to “protect” Brittany’s reputation as a mean girl.
I was looking froward to that too. I wish he had waited til after to break up with her.
I think the Bieber cut works for him, but only because he’s blonde and the ends curl up, giving him that surfer look.
It just made me sad! I kind of hope Artie will forgive her and they’ll get back together.
It does seem like they are trying to show him naked in every episode. And next week, he plays Rocky of Rocky Horror so I guess he’ll be in a gold bikini for the hour.
I thought the Tina/Mike duet was a little odd. Can Mike really not sing, or was that just part of the ‘bit’? The dancing was fantastic though. They must have polished that piano for hours.
I’m with those who were glad to see Kurt finally called out – by both Finn and his dad. I hope the writers keep it going and don’t allow Kurt to continue hiding behind a “you’re all just homophobic!” delusion. I am loving the message that homophobia is so not the same as being legitimately uncomfortable when someone stalks you.
There were several great moments in last night’s show – Brit with the meatball was priceless – but one of my favorites was when Rachel tousled the pianist’s hair during the “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” duet, and he broke the fourth wall for a second and gave us an exasperated look. Made me laugh out loud.
I forgot to mention that I like Kurt’s dad being so upfront to Kurt that he can’t make someone be the person he wants them to be, and that it might be unfair to put that burden on them. And that he knew about Kurt’s stalker-dom of Finn and disapproved. But all the while still being okay with who Kurt is.
I don’t know about the actor or the character not being able to sing, but it was definitely part of the song. In A Chorus Line, it’s reversed…the woman can’t sing, and the man is constantly ending her lines for her.
Ah, I wasn’t picking up on Rachel’s Catholic schoolgirl costume. :smack:
I won’t object to that. In fact there’s a bunch of numbers from a certain musical that I’d love to see the male Glee members perfom (with Shuester too). Never gonna happen on American TV though.
They live in a small town in in Ohio. I grew up in a place where the local paper considered Applebees nightlife.
Speaking of showers, I thought it odd that after Kurt gets called on his stalking he goes to see Sam in the shower. Imagine if Sam had done that to Quinn- he’d be expelled.
And it gets harder to suspend disbelief: either McKinley High happens to have a half-tux/half-fringed show garment in Kurt’s size laying around OR Kurt’s saved enough from his allowance to have one tailor made and then rent tuxes for a dozen others (both male and female- I wonder if there’s a women’s tux shop in Lima).
But then I watch it 90% for the music anyway, so c’est la vie- the rest is a 1950s musical with 2010 sensibilities. And I think if I was straight I’d have found Santana and Brittany making out really hot- Sam and Kurt I definitely would have.
But only because boys aren’t allowed in the girls’ locker room: Kurt is completely allowed to be in the boys’ locker room. I’m hoping part of what Kurt learns (eventually) is that being allowed to do something/be somewhere doesn’t always mean that you should. That young man has serious boundary issues – not to say they aren’t at least partially understandable, but figuring them out is part of what happens during everyone’s adolescence and I’m glad that the show is going there. It’s good to see a gay character who is both sympathetic and flawed.
I figure that the extensively costumed and choreographed numbers are exactly what suspension of disbelief was invented for.
To be fair, the Hummels seem to be rather well off (ie. Kurt’s truck we see in the episode with the carwash. Burt throwing around re-decorating cash and casually offering to put on an addition to his house when Finn moved in). Since Burt is an owner-operator of a repair shop he could be bringing in a pretty high income so Kurt could be getting a very large allowance.
Plus getting outrageous outfits tailor-made would be totally in-character for Kurt.
I especially liked Santana’s enthusiasm for her wheelbarrow of breadsticks. So many of the young women I know don’t seem to eat, so it was nice to see the portrayal of the thin girl with an appetite.
And I can totally buy Kurt constantly ordering stuff online, trolling vintage shops/Salvation Army, and making his own costumes.
That costume is a [del]little[/del] very dissapointing, but the TV preview did feature a shot of Sam topless and clutching his hands like he was trying to cover his crotch. And Finn mentioned having to be in his tighty whities.
And let’s not forget Kurt was on the football team last year, it’s not like he didn’t shower with his teammates.
I’m increasingly convinced that Mama Hummel (whose name, I am guessing, was Gert) had a life insurance policy that paid $5 million in the event of death by freak accident. It was taken out shortly before she tragically choked to death on those lug nuts after an argument with Burt.
This was a great episode - loved all the musical numbers, particularly Mike/Tina because he hasn’t had that much opportunity to sing. The Sam/Quinn number was a little meh, but I like their blossoming relationship with her learning to trust someone again. I would have liked for him to be the one for Kurt, though.
Brittany pushing the meatball with her nose was the funniest moment this season.
He did pick the song himself. And it’s previously established that he spends a lot of money on clothes. But the costumes for everyone else…Maybe they live near a college or theater that lends out costumes.
