Tonight the Glee kids will be celebrating Valentine’s Day.
I missed last week. Is this the first intro of the dads?
Yup, this is the first appearance by Rachel’s dads, unless you count a briefly-seen photo way back in the pilot episode.
Since there’s roughly zero chance that Kurt’s “secret admirer” is actually his boyfriend, I wonder who it will turn out to be? Karofsky? Sebastian? Becky? The Christian hippie? (Incidentally, the latter was the other Glee Project winner.)
Sebastian was my first thought. I still can’t get past the complete bed rest for they eye injury. I know it’s because the actor is doing stuff, but still…
Whenever I see Irish with that blank look I hope deep down that he’s about to Rick Roll everyone.
ETA - I think new god squad guy is yummy, but I’m a sucker for a certain type.
Back in “Michael” I thought it was odd that Blaine was apparently on bed rest before his operation, but I think when Kurt was showing off his Valentine’s Day card he said Blaine was currently in the hospital.
I suffered a corneal ulcer several years back, and although I didn’t need surgery IIRC the only surgical treatment is actually a corneal transplant. I have no idea how long it takes to recover from something like that, but it’s presumably not an outpatient procedure or anything.
I suppose the inclusion of “I Will Always Love You” was just an eerie coincidence. She did a lovely job, btw, it’s just I’ve heard that song a LOT lately.
I wanted to love Rachel’s dads, but I didn’t. Too confused, too snippy with each other, I couldn’t tell if they really think teen marriage is a reasonable plan () or simply are eager to plan a wedding.
OK, it’s back on.
They seems incredibly uncomfortable with it -
Uh… Didn’t see that coming.
I spoke too soon.
Wait, have you already watched it? Does Brian Stokes Mitchell sing? I can’t stand waiting!
I have a small TV so maybe I missed it, but did Kurt and Blaine not even kiss at the end? I was really expecting them to after the big deal that was made about Santana and Brittany being allowed to kiss.
Incidentally, Brittany’s fish dress was adorable.
I did feel sorry for Karofsky – especially since he’s likely to be outed at his new school – but I’m glad Kurt (nicely) turned him down. While IRL I could believe two guys with their history might eventually wind up together, I think it would be sending a horrible message to have them do so in fiction. Not that Glee hasn’t sent its share of horrible messages, but still.
All in all another OK, but just OK, episode in my opinion. I don’t know, maybe I’m just kind of over this show now, but while there was a lot going on there wasn’t much of it that I cared about. The Rachel/Finn relationship drama started to bore me by the Christmas episode last year, and I don’t care to have this marriage subplot drag on for the rest of the season.
It was fun to see Rachel’s parents at last though, and while (as Cub Mistress said) they did seem unpleasantly weird/snippy this at least made sense when it was revealed that they’re both opposed to the marriage and yet not fully comfortable with reverse psychology as a tactic to get Rachel to change her mind.
The lube scene had me in stitches.
Also Gay Simon.
I watched this specifically to hear “Stokes” sing, and of course was bitterly disappointed. He’s going to be my chorus’ guest artist in our June concert. Guess I’ll have to wait 'til then.
And oh yes, “I Will Always Love You” was amazingly coincidental . . . or did they have time to fit it in? I’m guessing the latter.
Loved the “lube” scene.
I think this was the best episode in a while… just good entertaining fun, none of the out-of-left-field weirdness or sudden character changes or any of that stuff which have made so many episodes this season a bit of a mess.
The new God Squad kid is one of the winners of the Glee Project, btw, for those who didn’t watch it. (As is the Irish guy.)
I believe that “I Will Always Love You” had been in the can as long as the episode had. I’d read that somewhere before.
Also, if I’m not getting my people mixed up, I could’ve sworn I’d read a bio on the other Glee Project winner that he was almost exactly like his character… a home-schooled Christian kid. I think.
Make Sugar go away.
Why did Artie and Rory both want to date her? Just because she’s rich?
Because she was single. I don’t think the rich had anything to do with it. While I don’t like her or her character, “I hid somehting under each of your chairs except yours, Artie. Your chair kept moving so it’s in the garbage can instead” was pretty funny.
One of the better episodes of late - and I think part of that is because Mr. Shu (Shoo? Shoe? Chew-The-Scenery?) was not in this episode. I think he should take a back seat to more shows, as his character is getting to be more annoying than anything else.
Sort of a waste of the Two Dads - they can really sing, but you wouldn’t know it from this episode.
