I didn’t like it. The big negative for me was Quinn at the end saying she is going to get the baby back. Seeing her causing yet more drama is not what I want from this show, I want happy glittery unicorn story lines.
Since it hasn’t really been mentioned yet, I want to state again how much I love Kurt’s dad - what a great guy!
I mentioned while watching with my stepdaughter (who is gay), “Man, Kurt’s dad is awesome - he really loves and supports his kid!”
And she said, “Yeah he is…almost as awesome as you!”
That totally made my night.
Wouldn’t that just be trading a butthurt Kurt for a butthurt Rachael? I think that’d cause far more drama.
I think it was supposed to be his forced deeper voice that caused everyone to crack up, not his acting, which seemed reasonably good to me.
I thought it was sad, although believable, that Coach Bieste wasn’t more sensitive about the whole thing. She is if anything even farther from being traditionally feminine than Kurt is from being traditionally masculine, and she certainly knows what it’s like to be considered weird and unattractive for not fitting gender norms.
I thought it was amusing, and also believable, that Emma was in favor of casting Kurt as Tony – for much of her life (possibly even now) her romantic ideal probably involved “would not expect me to have sex with him”.
I’ve been wondering for a while when they were going to let Colfer bust out his sais. (He has used the same skills with more mundane objects on the show before – an egg beater in the prom episode, and a feather duster back in the Rocky Horror episode – but not with knives.) It seemed kind of random, but I bought it as his character wanting to show that he could be “macho”.
Aw, that’s really sweet.
I could barely agree with you more. While all the stunt episodes and everything last year were unbearable, this year’s just been dull so far, particularly musically. I think the only performance I’ve liked out of the two eps so far was Blaine singing It’s Not Unusual.
God, the music was awful this episode. I usually like showtunes, but these were some of the worst showtunes I’ve ever heard. Kurt’s song on the monkeybars was particularly cringe-inducing.
But the drama was decent, for the most part. Burt was great, as usual. The Kurt/Blaine story was good, as was the Kurt/Brittany story. I liked Puck’s part of the Beth story, but was disappointed with Quinn’s side of it. Firstly, does having pink hair and a nose ring disqualify someone from being around a baby? Why do all the adults assume that the punk/skank trappings are such a terrible thing? The smoking, arson, and beating up other kids would be the things that worry me. Besides that, what’s this “I’m getting my baby back” stuff? Sorry, that’s not really how adoption works. You give up your baby, she gets adopted, that baby has a mom now, and it’s not you. If the mom wants you involved in her life, great, but if not, too bad.
Considering how hard the ND kids have to work to get new recruits (not a single freshman with talent this year?) I can’t see how Shelby’s rival club is going to have more than one tone-deaf member. But, I’m curious where that’s going.
I also didn’t really get why Biest et al laughed Kurt off the stage. He really wasn’t terrible. They should have played it up a bit more. My wife was only half-watching and had to ask “why are they laughing?”
LOL… so true…
I think this is what the IMDb calls a factual mistake made by a character, and possibly deliberate on the part of the writers. Thus far there’s been nothing to indicate that Quinn has any real chance of regaining custody of Beth, only that a disturbed 17 year old believes such a thing is possible. This being Glee the storyline might be resolved in some totally ridiculous manner (sing-off to win custody of Beth!), but it could end more realistically with Quinn realizing that there’s no going back, she gave her baby up for adoption and Shelby is Beth’s mother now.
Possible, but one would think that before allowing a 17 year old to sign papers giving up her baby, that someone would have explained to her that what she’s signing is permanent.
There can be a pretty big gap between things that have been explained to someone and things that person actually believes. And it’s not as if adoptions are in reality always permanent – there were a couple of high profile cases in the early '90s where the birth parents were able to regain custody of children who’d been given up for adoption. With “Baby Richard” and “Baby Jessica” the legal reason for reversing the adoptions was that the birth fathers had not consented, which isn’t the case here, but I find it plausible that Quinn would believe there might be some way for her to regain custody of Beth.
And let’s not forget that Quinns parents seem to have alot of money. Granted they (or at least her mom) were on board with the adoption.
Also, Shelby pretty much waltzed in there at the last minute in a way that was completely unrealistic as far as an actual adoption happening. Perhaps she and Quinn (or Quinn’s parents) reached some sort of deal outside of an official adoption. Has there been much said about the legal status of the baby as opposed to her de facto status?
What’s that? Something that happened on “Glee” is unrealistic?
Everything else pales in comparison to Blaine’s status as a junior!
Although now that I think about it, either here or on another forum I remember there being some discussion after the Valentine’s Day episode about the Gap assistant manager saying he could end up in prison if he got involved with Blaine. The age of consent in Ohio is 16, so while there were a number of other reasons for that guy to steer clear of Blaine it seemed like his age shouldn’t have been a legal problem. But if Blaine was a sophomore last year, he could actually have been only **15 **at the time.
I have a hard time believing that the writers intended him to be 15 then, though. His quasi-mentoring friendship with Kurt doesn’t make a lot of sense if Kurt was older, and it’s obvious just from looking at them that actor Darren Criss is several years older than Chris Colfer.

Will mentioned that Dustin Goolsby (Cheyenne Jackson) was fired from Vocal Adrenoline, info that wasn’t really needed, so she’ll probably leave McKinley and take back her old position. Possibly with Sugar in tow.
That or with no coach VA falls apart so a bunch of their kids (like that one girl who Rachel drove away at the beginning of last year but made up with in the finale) come over to fill up the rosters at McKinley.
