Glee: 3.04 "Pot O' Gold" (open spoilers)

Oh - that is less stupid on that particular account then. The show this year is still missing something for me.

I wonder if Chris Colfer is inordinately proud of his butt or if one of the producers is. Has anybody noticed how tight his pants are getting?

Nothing against attractive young guy’s butts, mind, but I’d much rather them squeeze frame Darren Criss’s or Mark Salling’s or Matthew Morrison’s.

This season is just not doing it for me. I am already sick of West Side Story and they haven’t even started rehearsing.

I don’t care a bit about Sue’s run for elected office. Frankly as an Ohioan, I cannot even begin to believe anyone in the state would care about one musical in one school in Lima. That whole storyline just leaves me cold. I love Burt, but I thought he looked bad in this episode… health wise I mean.

While I think Quinn trying to get Shelby arrested, I do like how this episode explained her take. She doesn’t really want Beth, she just wants some sense of purpose and achievement.

And I am sorry, but I cannot stand Shue’s whole win-at-all-costs attitude this year. He doesn’t care about the kids, he isn’t trying to teach them anything, and when he doesn’t care about them, I don’t either.

FWIW the regular Glee reviewer over at the AV Club felt just the same. I barely paid attention to this storyline myself though, in large part because I fully expect this:

to come true. Within the next couple of episodes I expect Shelby to find out what Quinn’s been up to, there will be some kind of confrontation, and then everyone will just forget that Quinn tried to frame an innocent woman for child abuse.

This isn’t the fault of anyone on Team Glee, apparently all FOX shows are being handled this way now.

I saw an interview with Colfer some time back where he was complaining about having to wear tight pants all the time on the show, so (as with so much else) Ryan Murphy is probably to blame.

I really, really, REALLY want to see someone haul off and belt a football player for the crap they do. I mean, really - Rory’s Irish! We’re ALWAYS looking for a good excuse for a fight!

Other than Rory’s introduction, it was a crap episode. I’m really starting to not care about any of these plotlines. Especially Sue’s - She’s being an embittered bitch, rather than being gleefully evil. I’m actively disliking her.

Or anywhere else, really. You read criticisms (some of them quite valid imho) about NEA dollars being used to fund weird performance art or public monies contributing to building things like The Gates in Central Park or buy odd and or controversial paintings for the National Gallery and the like, and there’s often controversy when a high school in a conservative place wants to put on something like Angels in America (gay/adult themes) or Miss Saigon (prostitutes, anti-American-involvement-in-Vietnam, etc.) or Ragtime (racism in turn of the century NYC, illegitimate birth, etc.), but I’ve never heard anybody passionate about cutting ALL arts funding for a school willy nilly. In fact, I’ve lived in some very conservative small towns and community and high school theater are usually very well attended. Murphy pulled that one out of his ass and called it “a satire of… something, not sure what, but the point is Sue is evil and conservative and conservatives are evil cretins!”

I was thinking she was going to have a gold pot of candy or something so there could be a final scene in Britney’s bedroom with him ending up woefully disappointed. I agree, though, it was kind of a disturbing plot. They could have easily use his “Irish charm” to warm up to Brittney and gotten to the same place without him seeming so manipulative. Now he’s going to be part of “the family?” :dubious:

Completely agree here too. I can understand her being heartbroken but “Frames caring adoptive mom for Child Abuse because she regrets choosing adoption” should probably entail a Psych Eval IMO.

I’d hate for this to come back on Puck too. He’s matured a ton, deserves to be a father and I think Shelby and Mature Puck have some chemistry even.

Missed the edit window. By “deserves to be a father” I mean deserves the right to be involved in his kid’s life if she feels it’s OK. Not that he should have the chance against anybody’s wishes.

Did I miss the ep where Brittany and Artie broke up? I could have sworn they were still dating.

I had the same reaction – but then I remembered, he called her an idiot when they were bickering about something. (Damn these month-long breaks in the action…)

Yeah - they were by the lockers and she was talking some nonsense (IIRC possibly being taken advantage of or manipulated by Santana) and Artie remarked that for her to think *something, cant rem what * was stupid and she got very hurt and said that he was the one person that never called her that, then she ran off. It was actually really sad because you could tell it really hurt her.

It’s available on OnDemand, though I’m not sure if it popped up one day or two after airing, since I only checked because of your comment.

Sucks for people without cable, I guess, but if people really want to watch on a computer, it’s really not hard to find most TV shows these days, mere hours (or less) after they air, even without official sites like Hulu or network sites. Maybe it’s not kosher, but I’m not gonna apologize for resorting to alternative methods when more shows than my DVR can handle are scheduled in the same timeslot. (Seriously, Grimm at the same time as Fringe and Supernatural? Fuck you, NBC! But I digress).

Of course three seconds later she’d forgotten ever having dated him.

Somebody in a past thread mentioned that her parents must mix in birth control pills with her breakfast cereal, and that has to be true or she’d either have 4 kids or be getting her abortions at the local mass volume wholesale warehouse.

Artie (correctly) suspected that Brittany’s friendship with Santana was more of a friends-with-benefits-ship, and when he confronted Brittany about this she explained that it wasn’t cheating if she had sex with another girl…and that she knew this was correct because Santana had told her so. Artie said Santana was manipulating Brittany and asked how she could be so stupid.

That was the end of the Artie/Brittany relationship, although the last few episodes of season two failed to make it clear whether they’d gotten back together again. Artie wanted Brittany to go to the prom with him, but while she refused she did end up dancing with him there. In “New York” he also helped her perform her original song “My Cup” for the group. But apparently this just meant that they were on friendly terms.

Eh, they’ve probably got her on Depo. Thinking of Brittany’s parents, I’ve heard rumors that they’ll make an appearance this season. It’s interesting to imagine what kind of people could have produced Brittany.

I greatly enjoyed “It’s not easy being green.” It was the best part of the episode, mainly because it is one of my favorite songs ever.

I liked Kurt’s look of jealousy when Rory hit the falsetto, but the rest of the episode was skippable. And agreed with Sue on their deserved loss at Nationals.

I liked the first season a lot, the second had moments, lots of talented performers, but I’m beginning to think it hasn’t jumped the shark so much as it failed to jump it and the shark bit off one of its legs up to the knee.

The bad news: You’re keeping a chubby kidnapped girl in a pit in your soundproofed basement.

The good news: In between hosing her down and making her apply lotion to her skin, you let her watch GLEE!

“Wait a minute… you mean that big fat girl?”

And actually, it’s only because she’s holding my dog & he likes to watch GLEE- yes, he does!

Can you all understand Damien McGinty?
That Derry accent is pretty thick- but at least it’s authentic- and really should highlight how bad some of the “Irish” accents on US TV are.

Irishfella walked into the room when I was watching this ep (he doesn’t watch it) and said “Why is there a Northern Irish dude in it now?” Even with his back to the TV he knew it wasn’t someone putting on an accent (unlike the guy from Coleraine in Boardwalk Empire…who clearly isn’t).

The song choices this series are getting schizophrenic to say the least- either obscure Broadway classics only real fans of muscial theatre would recognise, or teeny-pop hits that only appeal to the under 15s.

Also- Kurt- why would Westside Story have a 1920s Art Deco programme? Are they planning to stage it in the Jazz age? Did I miss a memo?

I’m betting they’re supergeniouses or something like that.
