[QUOTE=Wikipedia]
Irish foreign exchange student Rory Flanagan (Damian McGinty) arrives at McKinley High, and is hosted by Brittany Pierce’s (Heather Morris) family.[4][5] Mercedes Jones (Amber Riley) starts recruiting members for Shelby Corcoran’s (Idina Menzel) all-girl show choir, and New Directions co-captain Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith) tries to keep morale high in the existing glee club. Sue Sylvester’s (Jane Lynch) run for congress continues.

First new episode in awhile. This is also the first episode not by Messrs Murphy, Falchuk, & Brennan.

I’m curious to see how the new writers work out. I think the “Big Three” were out of ammo so new blood could really help.

Tonight introduces an exchange student from Ireland played by Damian McGinty (late of Celtic Thunder).

ETA: It was in EW this week that Chord Overstreet is returning to the show for a multi-episode arc later this year. Also there’s going to be a love triangle between Kurt/Blaine and a new character.

“Foreigner” isn’t it?

I’m feeling kind of “meh” on this episode, but it certainly wasn’t worse than many of those written by the three original writers. There were some nice moments and several of the storylines moved forward. Actually my main complaint about this episode was that I thought the musical numbers were weak, and I don’t blame the writer for that.

I saw most of The Glee Project and liked Damian McGinty on that, but his two numbers tonight weren’t very impressive and the “I’ll trick a dim-witted girl into having sex with me!” storyline was just creepy. It also seemed strange that Brittany would offer to have sex with anyone, even a leprechaun, when she is now officially dating Santana. I kept expecting it to be revealed that when Brittany offered him access to her pot of gold she meant something innocent like a pot of gold paint or something, but if that happened I missed it.

Speaking of things I missed, I saw Santana had a drawing of a cat in her locker, presumably a gift from Brittany. It looked like it had something written on it, but I didn’t catch it. Does anyone know?

The teaser for next week indicates there may be major developments in Kurt and Blaine’s relationship

Blaine apparently wants to have sex, while Kurt is perhaps not so sure.which is kind of funny since in this week’s episode they barely interacted. Blaine actually seemed cozier with Rachel. I also thought his choice of “Last Friday Night” was a little insensitive, it seemed like basically saying “Hey, remember that party last year where we all got really drunk and I made out with Rachel? That was awesome!” Plus, I hate that song. I hate Katy Perry in general and I hope now that Glee has featured FIVE of her songs they will finally give it a rest.

The writers did say in an interview that they’re planning far fewer (if any) “Tribute Episodes” because fans were getting tired of them.

Kevin McHale said in an interview that there will be a lot seen of West Side Story (including most of the score between rehearsals and the play).

What was up with the hair-dos on those last two bullies harassing Irish kid? Those were the nanciest-looking tough guys I ever saw.

I believe they were members of the hockey team, who were shown to be a bunch of mullet-heads some time back.

I thought that looked like Karofsky who knocked the phone out of Rory’s hand fairly early in the episode, but since he didn’t say or do anything else then it probably wasn’t.

I thought maybe they were trying for hick mullets.

Lamia - It said “Lord Tubbington Loves You”

I thought it was pretty decent. I like the fact that Finn’s mom (her family’s from Toledo! Hee!) and Kurt’s dad obviously have no idea what what Kurt will be doing as an adult.

I’m not sure about the Puck/Shelby thing. That’s wrong, even if Puck is like 30.

The picture of the cat in Santana’s locker said “Lard Tubbington thinks you’re purrrfect!” I admit I smiled at that.

I thought sure that the ep would end with Britney actually having a little pot of gold something.

Yeah, it was kinda creepy but then again, we are talking about the oh-so-hot & oh-so-loose Britney S. Pierce! And you might just get Santana thrown in if the stars are aligned. Of course, if ANYONE qualifies as “the crazy”, it’s Santana.

So, are we prepared for to greet Ohio’s new Congressman Burt Hummel?

I fully expect in one of those “humanize Sue” twists, that somehow it will be found a way to merge special ed with arts education & balance will be restored to the Force.

cringe But please don’t let it be as schmaltzy as giving Becky the solo that wins the Nationals.

Btw, I just gave it the first Loved vote mostly for Burt’s saving the musical & Congressional race & second for Santana’s rant on Leprechaun Boy.

It thought it was cute that Finn looked at Sue’s Aneurysm-Burger to Burt with awe & finally said “Anyone mind if I dig in?”

That’s true, but I felt that last season they went too far in making Brittany seem like she had the mind of a child. I’m fine with Brittany the space cadet and ultimate dumb blonde having a very active sex life with many different partners, but if she’s an overgrown little girl who still believes in Santa Claus and leprechauns then it becomes disturbing. Then again, in this episode she did display enough emotional intelligence to recognize that Finn wasn’t really happy and that Rory was thus lying to her.

It was nice to see Finn’s mom again – I don’t think she’s made an appearance since the wedding episode a year ago. I also like the idea of a Burt-centric storyline this season. Will his bid for Congress ultimately lead to a cover of CCR’s “Fortunate Son”? I’m imagining Puck or someone getting frustrated with Finn/Kurt and their brighter prospects and singing “I ain’t no Senator’s son” at them.

I’m really bothered by the Quinn-trying-to-get-Shelby-declared-unfit storyline. It’s SUCH a vile and unforgivable action for someone to take, and I certainly don’t feel like it’s being taken all that seriously… Seems like in half a season or so, it will be long forgotten, and we’ll be expected to never mention that Quinn did such an unbelievably evil thing. But it’s just too grave an act for that… it’s like if they had a storyline where Finn raped someone, and it was just being played as a medium serious little teenage issue. (Now that I think about it, it’s a bit comparable to the Teri-pretends-to-be-pregnant storyline from season 1, although at least in that case she did end up facing some kind of serious consequences, namely, losing her husband…) (But this is still quite a bit worse than that.)
And nothing all that great about the episode as a whole.

A lot more plot than usual – they were almost 20 minutes into the show before the first song.

At the bottom it said “and so do I.”

I’m personally getting reaaalllllly tired of all the whiny women on this show. Last year I was tired of Kurt’s drama of the week, so I’m totally gender-neutral on this opinion. Mercedes, Santana, Quinn (trying to put Shelby in jail? WTF?) … it’s just too much. And then to have Mercedes say, “Turn down the 'tude” to Sugar … oh, my, you said that totally unironically, didn’t you?

But then … a line drops in and I laugh. The funeral home guy says, “We have a crematorium, so we also bake and deliver delicious brick oven pizzas.” Sue railing on the West Side Story budget of $2,004 - “The yearly salary of a public school math teacher wasted!” Even the hockey toughs picking on the Irish kid: “Say U2’s overrated!” “Never!”

So I have to keep giving it a chance. But geez … lighten up, girls.

This show’s marketing staff makes stupid decisions. Case in point: it used to be available on Hulu or Fox.com the day after the episode but apparently there’s now an 8 day below before you can watch online. For people like me who watch the show online but aren’t die-hard Gleeks, chances are we’re going to lose interest in that time, especially considering how “Zack and Cody” the plots have gotten, and they’re going to lose an audience chunk in a show many are already thinking has either jumped the shark or otherwise reached its sell by date.

Plus in the clips I did see, is November Auto-Tune’s mating season? They’d laid off a bit in recent eps, but now it seems back with a fury.

And Kurt’s outfits- damn. A friend of mine (who’s gay and black) calls Kurt “The gay Stepin Fetchit”, and I see his point; there’s a not so subtle difference between a look and a costume.

Not to mention an Irish exchange student who wears nothing but green. Last year the show was silly and fun and occasionally hysterically funny - this year it seems kind of, well, stupid.

To be honest, I think he was wearing green to keep up the leprechaun sham.

I completely agree with you - about all of it, really, but especially the Quinn story line. There is a whole interesting dynamic there with Rachel - Shelby - Quinn - Beth that could be explored without having Quinn turn into something that I can’t see her coming back from. Puck always has a shred of decency that starts to come through and grow before he fucks up again, so I really hope he will come out with it to Shelby (and that she doesn’t end up dismissed for sleeping with a student). Having a friend that was once falsely accused has really colored the episode for me and I have a hard time watching it. I just want to go back to dancing football players and Burt standing up for his son and more Bieste.

Yes. He wore red during his audition for the glee club.
