Go ahead--pit the first day of the fall semester

Let’s make short work of this one. People stay up late to watch internet pornos and to avoid dealing with bosses and coworkers, who are awake during those early hours. This phase shift is a work-avoiding strategy. That’s why we call sleeping until noon “being a layabout.”

I get it now. You’re just trolling. Silly of me not to see it earlier. I’ll treat your future contributions accordingly.

Since I can’t say fuck you I can’t give this the response it deserves. So I pose the question, are people who work second and third shift “layabouts”? Am I “avoiding bosses and coworkers” by choosing those types of schedules when available?

I look forward to your further condemnation of anyone who doesn’t fit your narrow bigoted mold.

List of people you’re judgmental against for stupid reasons:
2nd shift people
3rd shift people
students
teachers
Europeans

Also speaking of Europeans, you ever going to deliver that cite that backs up your claim that Europeans spend more time on vacation then at work, or you gonna admit that was bullshit?

Yea, there’s 2 credit hours of physical education required for my degree. Aerobics satisfies one of them.

Europeans who are redoing the filing system while waiting for someone to come back from vacation in India, the USA and Chile. Was “asking to join the EU” one of Obama’s promises, do you know?

lol wut?

Is this the effect of that other great Spanish summer tradition, tinto de verano?

I obviously made the mistaken assumption that Kimmy_Gibbler was entering the discussion in good faith, a mistake that will not happen again. For some reason, he/she wasn’t on my list of posters to automatically not read in a thread. Wish someone had clued me in earlier before I wasted my time attempting to provide facts!

Does anyone know what he/she does for a living, so that I may automatically denigrate that profession and persons who practice it?

Inb4 Kimmy’s too chicken to answer.

Also Nava, I gotta be honest. I’m confused, could you elucidate what you meant?

Split infinitive.

F-

P.S.: I’m quite sure you already denigrate my profession and its practitioners. We attorneys have long ago learned to toughen up our hineys.

You have a cite against the split infinitive?

What’s your university’s attendance policy like? Mine had an incredibly stupid one that involved docking your grade for missed classes beyond a certain threshold, regardless of your other class participation, exam scores, or grades on papers. Could be you’re blaming the wrong party.

There is no legitimate cite against the split infinitive, unless you count morons who want to force English to work like Latin. However, I’ve been quite amused by **Kimmy **in this thread, personally. (He’s so obviously button pushing, it makes me laugh.)

If you are anything in person like your persona here, you probably deserve whatever denigration you receive. Professionally or otherwise.

If I wanted trolls I’d go to /b/. The troll’s posts in this thread has been reported btw.

Actually, my stepfather, brother, uncle, ex-husband, ex-boyfriend, and three best friends are all attorneys. My mother was a paralegal. I have a high regard for many of the members of the legal profession - I save my vitriol for SPECIFIC EXAMPLES of douchebaggery in someone and then denigrate them for being bad workers, bad employees, or lazy and incompetent individuals, rather than denigrating the entire profession in which they practice.

It’s obvious that at some point in your life, you had bad experiences with specific examples of lazy or incompetent college professors, and have determined in your infinite wisdom that those college professors are not just lazy or incompetent individuals, but that college professors in general are so.

And with that, I’ve just violated my promise to ignore you, and wasted time attempting to reason with a pig.

ETA: Shot From Guns, yea, I know, I recognized that as soon as the pig in question ignored every post with evidence contrary to the original statement.

You reported someone for being an ass… in the Pit? Seriously? Did you just forget what forum you were in, or are you really that uptight?

Do you actually know what troll means? What is a troll? - The Straight Dope

Being in the pit doesn’t give somebody free reign to act like a shitbird, and I wish people would stop pretending like it does.

Huh. I saw Kimmy’s original posts as being tongue-in-cheek, but it just keeps going.

I wouldn’t. I’ve got classes that meet at 7:30am and 8am, and people are having to rise and shine much earlier now due to all the parking disruption from the ongoing construction work (you get crappy parking far, far away if you don’t get there at the asscrack of dawn), so I understand completely if someone nods off.

That said, I do try to change it up a bit in class, and we take our mandated breaks: 10 minutes for the 2-hour class, and half an hour for the 4-hour class.

Anyway, back to the on-topic whining: the elevators broke down yesterday, and I lost my classroom keys. And now there are wildfires spreading polluted air everywhere.

Frak this whole week.

There are plenty of people who the mods have declined to take action against who are worse than Kimmy. That was pretty much my point.
