I remember he was once asked if money and fame made his love life any easier and he said yes, now he struck out with a much better class of women.
I find a lot of his humor appealing, but when he veers into themes of sexual humiliation, all I got is a major* ick!* factor. So it wouldn’t be that hard for me to believe this latest stuff. On the other hand, recent development about that reliability of memory, and especially childhood memory, give me pause.

But, putting that aside, there can be only two explanations for such a feeling on your part:
Either like BigGirl and some of the other posters in this thread you suffer from an over-emotional, semi-hysterical mindset when confronted with behavior or beliefs you find viscerally objectionable, and therefore like her and them you lack proper ability at reading comprehension and therefore read all manner of nonsense into my thoughts, beliefs and statements that not only were never intended but had never occurred to me in the first place.
Or you’re the type of person I talked about earlier who, having decided someone is guilty of child sex abuse, thinks only a pervert or fellow pedophile would even want to know about the evidence let alone look into it, and who, having been informed of exculpatory evidence proving the accused to be innocent (and unquestionably so in the case of Woody Allen re Soon-Yi Previn), reacts not with appreciation for the evidence that acquits the innocent, but with resentment that it was raised in the first place and by assigning pedophilic motives to the person presenting it, while quite happily remaining convinced of their belief that the accused is guilty.
Thus, in the case of the former, you’re merely an overly emotional nitwit unable to properly interpret the meaning of words right in front of your face, and in the case of the latter you are a truly vile and reprehensible person for whom the word evil is not an exaggeration, for you care nothing for the truth and would willingly and quite happily treat both the innocent accused and his defender as though they were guilty through and through. And if that isn’t evil, I don’t know what is. What I do know though, is that an entire court system and rules of evidence have put in place specifically to thwart people like you and to keep perfectly innocent people from being cheerfully lynched in the town square.

He grossed me out so much in the Sandusky thread that I decided then not to read his posts anymore. His lascivious and detailed fantasies about exactly how the shower rape could have happened, IF it happened, which, in his opinion, it didn’t, were just… gross. Really gross. He is gross.

It is this level of detail that I find most telling. It’s the sign of a good Internet Weirdo. They get so obsessed with every little detail of whatever their topic is that they assume that everyone they talk to is equally well informed. It’s the fact that you KNOW off the top of your head all of these piddly details about a topic that the rest of us find, at most, sort of icky, that is most creepy.
Even before then he was so gross it was almost unreal. I recounted a story of my late mom who was forced to get my dad’s permission after she married and wanted to open up a bank account in her new name in 1967. SA defended the sexism of treating a 24 year old woman like a child of course. Ugh.

As a non-conservative of this board, I have to note that I don’t think I have ever considered Starving Artist to be meaningfully representative of the board’s conservatives, no matter how loud or obvious he may be in his self-proclaimed conservatism.
I also have to note that I’ve never found the speculations about his own possible involvement with child molestation to be particularly persuasive. Nor do I think that racism and misogyny are particularly salient traits in most of his posts, although it doesn’t surprise me that examples of them can be found.
What I think makes Starving Artist absolutely sui generis is the extent of what Hentor the Barbarian has called “the intersection of functionally crazy and functionally stupid” that he brings to the table. I’m laughing… and Loach is Winning! another 2013 SDMB Golden Paper Towel Tube Laureate award.
Well-deserved, too. Actually, Loach is the sole 2013 Laureate; my award was actually in 2012 but I didn’t spot the typo in time to edit it.
Just for the record, I do make jokes about Starving being a pedo, but I have no real belief that he actually is. I also do not put these forward as my proudest contributions. They’re low and unfair, I admit, but suppose I must be too because they amuse me.
Having said that, the dude clearly invests a hell of a lot of time and effort in thinking up exculpatory arguments regarding overt child sexual abuse or generally creepy sexual acts by older guys. The rest of his board contributions are only slightly less reprehensible.
By the way, I believe that I myself am the governing body and sole voting member of the Golden Paper Towel Tube Award Committee, since I made it up. Announcements of winners beyond 2012 are premature and fraudulent.
