Well, I’ll confess I’d be tempted to Pit Dopers who Pit ol’ Starvers, mainly ‘cause it’s little more than pissin’ into the wind and just seems to encourage him.
Personally, I gave up on discussion with him months ago, not least because he seems to think that the largest word count somehow wins the argument. Good gravy, that’s some tedious shit to slog through.

But every criticism leveled at Starving Artist above applies in equal if not greater force to him.
Yes, but his political stance exacerbates the ire he draws, and ElvisL1ves’ political stance mitigates his.
I’m willing to consider the possibility that this is true, but i honestly can’t think of anyone that fits the bill. I can think of some who demonstrate dishonesty and irrationality on particular hot-button topics, but none that descend to Starving Artist’s levels of sheer dishonesty and willful ignorance over such a broad range of issues.

I think there might be something to your argument about board politics, although i think i think it might be, at least in some cases, not quite as nefarious as you suggest. It is sometimes the case, in political debates, that i will not pay quite as much attention to the posts of people who hold similar opinions, because i tend to focus on those who i’m arguing against. This may, in some cases, lead me to skip over or overlook the logical and rhetorical felonies of my political fellow travelers.
As for ElvisL1ves, the only time i’ve debated directly with him in recent memory has been in baseball threads, and i have to concede that, if his debating style and tactics are the same when discussing politics as when discussing baseball, then you probably have a point.
SA can make some valid points and criticisms, but they are mostly couched in righteous indignation of the left that it’s hard to sort through the chaff.
Of course, the lefties would never engage in such a thing.
Well, just speaking for myself here, for whatever reason I don’t notice him as much as I do S_A, but then I don’t recall having engaged him more than once or twice since I’ve been on this board. Maybe it is indeed because I find his political stance closer to mine, but I think it’s more that he hasn’t seemed to turn up as much in discussions I’m interested in.

That’s some pretty fucked up accusations there cowboy. By this accusation you imply that ALL of us are dishonest: that we secretly know that, wait who now? Elvisomething? is a liar on a par with SA–which, first, WOW, that’s quite a par to be on–but we look the other way because he sleeps on the same side of the bed.
OK first off, I reiterate my “who”? I recognize the name of course, but he’s completely under my radar (no offense Elvis). Part of what makes SA such a notable case is that he’s–wait for it–notable. He does not fly under the radar. He makes an effort to be a pretty visible “spokesman” for the Lying Liars Who Lie contingent of the Board. I don’t think ElvisL1ves is even in the running. (No offense Elvis.)
Put it this way: find an egregiously dishonest post from someone who’s posted exactly once. I don’t care if every single keystroke in the post is a boldfaced lie, he’s still not on a par with SA. It has absolutely, exactly, fuckall to do with what side of the bread he butters.
I used to try to engage SA, but no more. The end for me came when he pretty much admitted (during a health care debate) that he did not, and would not read any cites with data that disagreed with him, and he preferred to believe in vaguely remembered anecdotes, as long as they agreed with his position.
That would be fine if he just avoided GD, but he seems to like to argue. With no facts. Nor does he want to be confused with facts.
I don’t give a rat’s ass what his political persuasion is.

Picture if you will, Bricker, a poster that comes here a spouts off absolute crap about a topic that you know well. Let’s say, for example, the law.
Let’s further suppose that this poster consistently gives completely false information about the law based on anecdotes, and their "gut feeling’, and they refuse to look at any cites you give them that clearly show their error.
And they do this again and again and again.
You’d get a little pissed off at them, yes?
Except for his verbosity. Elvis tends to be brief and contemptuous, not long-winded and contemptuous.
Not to mention Elvis really only has one issue on which he’s certifiably disconnected from reality, and that’s HRC. Starving Artist lives in an entirely different world. Everything he says is wrong because he derives his philosophy from that world instead of ours. And philosophy is all it is, because he’s like a vampire, only he burns when he touches facts rather than sunlight.
But strangely, he’s immune to holy water. Go figure.
