Gobear plays Sandy Dennis in "The Out-of-Towners"--NYC travel advice requested

Another question: are there any scams or dangers we should watch oput for? Even though we are both big city boys, being out of our element and on vacation could dull our street smarts.

Those $10 dollar “Rolllexxxs” that you get on the street never seem to last very long for me…

I’ll be there the following week and will be staying at The Carlton. Friends suggested it and we are able to book a double double for $85 a night which seeing as how I paid $65 for a shitty Super 8 single in Mundelein Illinois last year, I’m unbelievably jazzed about. We have tickets for “Hairspary” and “Mamma Mia” and are going to do a few of the touristy things like the Empire State Building and maybe the UN. We’re going to lunch at the Algonquin one day. My mother is after me to have tea at the Plaza but I don’t think we’ll have time.

I ordered an “Official NYC Guide” from the NYC & Company Convention and Visitors Bureau. Lots of ads, but there are some coupons as well and a good bit of information including a street map. They are located at 810 Seventh Ave between 52nd and 53rd so if you don’t have time to get information before you go you can drop in for information, maps, bus and subway passes, etc.

I’ll be watching this thread too for any suggestions so keep them coming!

If you play three-card monte on the street, tell the dealer to flip over the two cards you don’t think are the queen. They and you will share a hearty laugh!
