Thanks to Eve and Oxymrorn for a great NYC visit!

The Goboyfriend and I just got back to the Bear homestead and we wanted to thank Eve and Oxymoron for their kindness and hospitality in showing us New York. Seeing the view of Grand Central and the walking tour of Manhattan was wonderful, courtesy of Eve, and having lunch with both of them at the Algonquin was a special treat. Oxy took us to a gay bar in the Village–merciful Zeus, but they’s some hot men in NYC!

Now the Goboyfriend wants us to move to NYC and he has all of a sudden become much more interested in attending the next NYC Dopefest in January.

Which bar did you go to?

Oh, and does one need reservations for Sunday brunch at the Algonquin, and is there a dress code? I emailed the Algonquin two weeks ago to ask but received no reply.

We went to the Starlight in the East Village on A St. Loads of hot men there, and that’s just at one bar! They also had Guinness on tap–DC bars only carry Miller, Bud, and Heineken.

<shrugs> I dunno, you’ll need to e-mail one of the NYC Dopers. OTOH, you could call the Algonquin and ask, which is a lot more direct than e-mail.

NYC was a BLAST!

FYI, the Algonquin lobby is small, albeit tres elegant, and I’m willing to bet reservations are required. In addition, the menu, while good, is limited.

I’m sorry you had such crappy weather, but it was so nice to meet you and Goboyfriend! Did you ever get to the Met or the Strand? And did you wander around the Village and look at some of the other sights, besides what was in the Starlight?

Well, thank you for the thread! And did you at least get a little bit of sunshine on Saturday? We do get that from time to time, you know.

Otto, Starlight is indeed a keeper, especially earlier in the evening before the music gets too loud. And it’s close to two other good places, the Cock (identified only by a neon…rooster) and the Phoenix.

Well, we walked around Christopher Street and had a couple of beers at the Stonewall Inn. I was enthralled at being in an historical landmark, but the Goboyfriend was unimpressed (He shares Henry Ford’s view on history).

We browsed at the Strand and bought a few books. We didn’t have time to get to the Met or Central Park, so we’ll have to do that the next time we visit.
