God gets fed up

No, it wasn’t.
The board in question was worse than whatever you may be thinking of.
I figured when I made my username Howard Dean I wasn’t long for it.
YEEE_AHHH!
heh

But, anyway, maybe somewhere there is a board where christians tal, discuss, sympathize, and aren’t nasty.
Would be nice.

But this board is nice, even though it is not a christian-filled board.

Years of Catholic school (in name or otherwise), combined with years of experience Christians, has taught me that if such a place exists, it is not generally possible to be a member of such a place and remain a doper, on account of you’d have to be dead;)

Or remain a Democrat, for that matter.

A vote for Bush is a vote for God, you know.
Ya don’t? Well, THEY know!

actually,in 2000 God told me to vote for Nader, and this year I think I’ll make the choice myself.

No, not Christian-filled, exactly, but I’ve found when I start threads that are really specifically Christian, I get great responses from all the people I’d hoped would respond, and then some. Just make your topic of utter non-interest to non-Christians!

WE. MUST. ALL. OBEY. THE. HYPNO-TOAD.

Gee, and I thought your were referring to this.

Oh, come now, that board wasn’t quite the horror of horrors. I grant that it was politically more right-leaning than you are, vanilla (and right-leaning in general), but it wasn’t exactly all posters insisting upon the death of Michael Moore and saying that Dems were satanic commies. (There was some right-wing rhetoric, but it wasn’t every post.)

It existed, it’s gone, I wouldn’t dance on the grave.

Hmmm, I’d love to see such a topic, perhaps what topic would that be?

I can so picture that.

I never understood this. IMHO, the mosth christian President is also one of the most reviled by some of these guys.

Is it? I thought it was for Dog. Derned dyslexia.

If it’s the place I think it is, I suppose I should be glad there’s one less thing to be tempted by around. You see, I tend to take a rather hard line againt Christians who make fun of people. I also saw the effect it had on my good friend vanilla, and I was afraid I’d lost her friendship for good. I’m glad that’s not the case.

The people who formed the core of that place won’t change their beliefs, and I’m not sure it’s my place to make them do so. One thing I am obligated to keep in mind is that there beliefs are as legitimate and necessary to them as mine are to me. I’m afraid that, realistically, I can’t even stop them from hurting others, although I can try to undo some of the damage both to those they’ve harmed and those people’s perception of my faith.

Vanilla, I’m glad you’re free of the place. You’re a better Christian than you give yourself credit for, lady.

CJ

the board was a fairly small group to begin with. the more conservative element of that board splintered off, forming another board. quite a few of the board moderators were among those that moved on to the new site. board management just gave it up, and turned out the lights.

You can’t. Nobody can change other people’s minds. All you can do is give them the tools to do it. Shouting at them will rarely work; telling them they’ll go to hell otherwise will only work if they ascribe themselves to the idea that Hell is a bad place AND that it’s possible to know you’re going to hell. Etc. Treating them like babies won’t work. Give them the information they need and hope for the best.

But that’s just my opinion, I could be wrong.

[sub]CJ, you checked your email of late?[/sub]

Siege, we will always be friends.

longhair was the nicest poster on that board, which is why I couldn’t figure why he was there.
“the more conservative element split off”
How more “conservative” can a member be without going off the scale of right wing???
