A very religious friend of mine told me a story of how a friend of her father’s had fallen ill and not to long dead was pronounced dead. Doctors had confirmed that he was deceased. 24 hours later, he was found in his bathroom, brushing his teeth as if nothing had ever happened . My friend’s father and his family prayed for this “deceased” person, and she claims that this was a miracle of God. :dubious:
Now my question obviously is whether or not this could be possible (of course, in scientific terms)? She told me that the doctors knew positivly that this man was dead, and they signed the death warrant. What are the chances that the doctors “screwed up”, or how could they have made a mistake? Is it possible this man’s heart stopped for some time, but start up again later, bringing him “back to life”?
Sorry for the lack of details, but I’m in a rush, because it is my Birthday tommorow after all ;). BTW, I am an athiest myself, and as you can tell, I find this story hard to believe, but she CONVINCED me (and she is a close, trusted friend) that this situation actually took place.
Thanks in advance, I’ll comment if necessary.
Considering brain damages occurs as soon as 5 minutes after the brain was deprived of oxygen, that story is impossible unless the doctors made a mistake, as suggested.
Ah yes! A friend of friend story or in this case a friend of the father of a friend. Ask your friend (or her father) for the name of the dearly departed and the date of his unfortunate demise. I’ll bet you dollars to donuts that it wasn’t actually a friend of his, but rather a friend of a friend of his. Try to find the name of the Doctor. Just try.
Oh and Happy Birthday.
So he was pronounced dead and then… what? They just left the “body” in the bedroom overnight? I don’t even think that’s legal. I’m pretty sure, in most areas (even Canada), you’re required to call the sheriff or coroner or some similar local authority when someone dies or if you find a dead body. That way they can investigate murders and such. Certainly any doctor, even ones who still make anachronistic house calls, would know that. Or did your friend’s father’s friend die in the hospital and somehow wander home?
The whole story sounds kind of fishy. But, as they say, The Lord works in mysterious ways- even impossible and/or illegal ones.
However, I do understand why he was brushing his teeth. Resurrected corpses must have wicked morning breath.
Happy Birthday, by the way.
