Goddammit...why do men,esp MY man, have to be so stubborn?

I have found my life partner already, thank you.

And, I am secure enough to let HER make her own decisions on personal matters…

 You guys rock,didja know that?

Besides…I figure if I was brave enough to go to the doctor earlier this year for a pregnancy test (which involved a blood sample and fortunately turned out to be neg),he can go to the dr.Especially when he’s already been exposed to bronchitis and the flu and hasn’t had his flu shot yet.

While it is true that I do not possess a marriage certificate, I have been with the same wonderful woman for the past 14 years. You are 100 % correct to be worried about CG’s health and I am sorry if I gave you the wrong impression.

However (and you KNEW there would be a however)…

Mutual respect demands that I consult the SO on anything major that will affect us both. What movies to rent, music to buy, etc. are minor - she rents hers, I rent mine. Usually we watch them together.

We’re secure enough in our relationship that we don’t sweat the little stuff.

Well, in re: the OP…

You’ve told him how concerned you are, because you love him, right?

Well, maybe it wil help if you also mention that bronchitis and pneumonia are also both contagious. Wouldn’t he feel crappy if he’d gotten you sick, too? That would really suck for all concerned.

Pneumonia and bronchitis suck; I’ve had both of them multiple times (although not simultaneously, thank God). They don’t have to be a big deal if you treat them promptly, but can be really, really nasty, or potentially fatal, if you don’t. Maybe that will provide some motivation to go to the doctor sooner rather than later.

Good luck!

IDBB, sorry for being brusque in my last post, but different marriages have different levels of autonomy. Personally, my wife and I make a lot of decisions on our own. It works for us, but whatever works for you… works. More power to the both of you.

That said, my wife hates going to the doctor. SO far there has been one time where she avoided going to the doctor when she needed medical care. It took my offering to set an appointment for her before she called someone. Reading a few words on a monitor doesn’t allow me to know you or know much about your marriage, but your setting an appointment for your husband could be done as a caring gesture and would put the ball in his court. You could always cancel the appointment if he didn’t want to go. It’s your call though: I don’t know you beyond a few posts on a board and I wouldn’t try to press personal advice on anyone.
hajaro, thanks for the suggestion, but can I consider the comments of everyone in a thread when I make a reply?

I’ve already told him if he doesn’t call the dr by Mon or Tues,I will and I will MAKE him go. He cannot make me sick right now because I don’t have health insurance(long story) and if I happened to get sick,I wouldn’t be able to go to the dr.

I’m sorry if I seem like I"m over-worrying.I only love the guy with my heart, soul and every atom of my very being.

Bronchitis is contagious? I thought it was just inflammation of the bronchial tubes that can be caused by dust, smoke, whatever.

That was me, not Jerseydiamond.

And I wasn’t being sarcastic. Is bronchitis really contagious?

Yes.

Maeglin’s post matches what my doc told me, although he also said that since I’m asthmatic, it’s 80% probable that my bronchitis was bacterial rather than viral. (Apparently asthmatics get all the fun; for non-asthmatics, it’s the exact opposite - 80% of their bronchitis is viral, meaning you can only treat the symptoms. Lucky me; I got steroids AND antibiotics.)

So yeah, I’m more susceptible than most, but it’s still contagious.

Some bronchitis and pneumonia is contagious. Some isn’t.

Bronchitis is usually diagnosed with you are coughing up green or yellow mucus, or, as my husband calls them “lung guppies”. If the infection is in the lungs (diagnosed via x-ray) its pneumonia. There are dozens of different kinds of pneumonia, and some people will have it and just have a cold, while others will require hospitalization.

I get bronchitis all the time and had pneumonia over Thanksgiving, and no one else in the house came down with so much as the sniffles…I’m not a doctor, just an experienced patient. Mine is always diagnosed as bacterial (i.e. they always give me antibiotics) - but I’m not asthmatic. I am, apparently, a Strep B carrier, though.

Bronchitis and pneumonia both have other symptoms that IDBB has not mentioned. Coughing, fever, mucus…

However, shortness of breath and chest pain could be signs of a heart problem.

Sound slike he is a lucky guy to have a woman care that much about about him.

I know i’ll continue working until i pass out unless someoen sets me straight.
