Goddamn Chinese-made CRAP!

Jesus fucking christ on a taco. Do the words ‘quality assurance’ mean anything to anybody these days? Or is the goal just to maximize profits and fuck the consumer?

I have a hard time finding shoes that are comfortable. A combination of high arches and plantar faciitis make the search difficult. So when I finally find some that work, it’s a happy day.

So I find these Salomon cross-trainers at REI that are like stepping into a cloud. Problem is, they are about a half-size too large and of course they don’t have my size in stock. Okay, that’s one of the problems with living up here and it doesn’t really bother me to have to wait two weeks for a special order to come in.

So today is the day and I pick them up, take them home, and the fucking right shoe is smaller than the left fucking shoe. Sorry cocksucker Chinese shoe factory-using bastards. Now I get to start all over again with this bullshit. And I don’t want to hear about the poor cocksuckers only getting 12 cents a year and having to eat dirt three times a day. It’s the corporate motherfuckers that allow poor quality and it’s them I pit into a thousand hells.

Do you think they’d be better if made in the Us, S. Korea or Germany? Aren’t you pitting the company? What do the Chinese have to do with your rant?

I didn’t pit the Chinese. Pay the fuck attention or stay out of my thread. ::grumble::

Yeah, maybe you should be pitting the company that has low standards, not the Chinese.

Then pit them, you “Sorry cocksucker shoe factory-using bastard.”

-Anaamika, girlfriend of a Chinese guy.

So I’m not supposed to pit the poor quality of Chinese-made goods because you’re fucking an Asian? What does your lovelife have to do with consumer goods?

Why “Chinese-made” crap, then? Why not “low QC standards”?

Misdirected pit. Use of racial terms when racial terms are only tangentional to your pit (actually, I think they’re more or less irrelevant) don’t endear you to this ethnic Chinese guy. Sure, China turns out a lot of crap. But that’s got nothing to do with QC, which should CATCH these mistakes. QC standards are set by the contracting company, and they probably aren’t Chinese. You think American factories turn out perfect goods all the time?

If you want to, pit QC standards, not the workers. The workers don’t know any better. Hell, they probably only work on one shoe at a time.

I just want to mention that as I am reading this and I see the QC abbreviation, I keep reading it as “PC” which is interesting given the jumping down the OP’s throat because he dared to use the word “Chinese”.

Well, considering the fact that he comes up with “rationalisation” such as workers being so poor that they have to eat dirt three times a day, I can hardly see it as anything but blame being placed on the (Chinese) workers. It could be Mexican. Hell, it could even be American. But using such a blatent stereotype shows that he intended to blame the Chinese workers, and his response to Anaamika (a rather crude response, I might add) confirms it. And we’re just telling him that he’s pitting the wrong person. Quite politely, I might add.

Things with ‘made in china’ on the bottom tend to be quite well made in my experience.

Ha! Thank you for proving your maturity and intelligence with such an adult, well-reasoned out response.

Well, damn…this just goes to show that one should not do a Pit thread while still fuming. I withdraw my damning of the Chinese and offer my apology to Anaamika for the crudity. It’s now two hours later and I’ve fired off a fuck you letter to the shoe company, which was the appropriate target to begin with.

:smack:

Surprised and pleased…thank you. I wasn’t offended, though. And good for you for yelling at the company - maybe they’ll give you a coupon for more shoes you don’t want, which is what they often tend to do. :smack:

I’m glad you’re calmer now.
With the problems you have with your poor feet, have you seen these?
I have plantar fasciitis too. I couldn’t walk to the mail box and back. These shoes have made all the difference. They have a built-in orthotic, which the poditrist can adjust to each foot.
The link is to a Seattle store, they may be able to direct you to a reseller closer to where you live.

I’ve seen these, but I have a hard time getting past the…oddness…of the way they look. They make me think of that Seinfeld episode where Kremer is wearing the ‘special’ shoes. I’m looking into a custom orthotic instead of the OTC ones I use now (at $45 a pop from the podiatrist). Buying comfortable shoes shouldn’t be this big a problem, ya know?

Custom orthotics are your friend. They’ve been a lifesaver for me, and they’re expensive, but mine are going on 4 years old. It’s been the difference between needing daily prescription anti-inflammatories and needing nothing at all. They run about $350 down here, but that works out to something like $2 a week. If you’re lucky, your insurance will cover them.

My experience is quite the opposite. I think the PC police are being a bit too aggressive in taking offense at the assertion that Chinese products are usually of inferior quality.

Well over 95% of the Chinese products I have purchased have been made from poor quality materials, displayed inferior design characteristics, and showed poor quality workmanship. I specifically avoid Chinese products unless it’s something I consider disposable, because I know that’s what will happen whether I want it to be “disposable” or not.

My opinion is 100% devoid of politics and/or racism, it’s just based on the fact that my experience as a consumer has been that Chinese products ARE CRAP!

[anecdote]
A friend of mine was looking to buy a bolt-cutter and mentioned that he was going to go to the flea market to look for some. I told him that most of everything he would find at the flea market would be “crap made in China” that would end up in the garbage in short order. I specifically told him that he should be fine as long as he didn’t buy any bolt-cutters made in China. What does he do? He buys a “made in China” bolt cutter and proceeds to tell me the next day how he had thoroughly inspected it, and that it seemed to be solid and of good quality, and how it was half the price of the cheapest “non-China” bolt-cutter. I told him that it wouldn’t last and he said that it would be worth the price if it lasted a year. End result: The solid steel built-in/unreplacable blade snapped on the very first use while attempting to cut something ridiculously puny. Many “I told you so’s” then followed…

Ditto to Voltaire. A buddy of mine purchased a lot of 10 “Made In China” Zippo knockoffs. Pretty, shiny, still in the packages. My classic brushed steel Zippo (Made in USA) is still kicking ass and taking names. All of his are in the trash. Matereals, cheap. Workmanship, god-freakin-awful (but what do you expect from the world’s largest 3rd World shithole?) If they put as much cash into education as they do into their military, the world would be safer and they would be an economic powerhouse worthy of the title ‘superpower.’ But then again, revolution isn’t too far behind if there is education.

Don’t “ditto” my opinion, because your opinion is clearly not 100% devoid of politics. The proximity of your political opinion cheapens my impartial opinion which is based solely on the quality of Chinese products.

Sorry, but to me the second bolded statement looks like blatant racism. Saying ‘products’ is not far away from saying ‘people’.

By attacking workmanship you are attacking workers ability i.e. workers i.e. people… Under the title ‘chinese’

Christ, why not? You make the statement that 95% of Chineese products “displayed inferior design characteristics, and showed poor quality workmanship.” Why? Why is Chineese crap poorly designed and poorly made? Matereals is a big part of it, but there’s another bit where workmanship (in this sense, turning raw matereals into finished matereals, which are then turned into finished goods) lags behind. Just because you’re unwilling to say WHY many Chineese made products are crap doesn’t mean you are making a statement which is 100% free of politics. It ain’t because Chineese folks are racially inferior. It ain’t because China is devoid of high quality resources (well, they lack in oil and common sense, but then again, so does the USA.) Maybe its because the Communist government keeps the people (the good, hardworking people) of China ignorant and unskilled? And even the ones who recieve a quality education are stifled! No, sir, I do not cheapen your opinion with my political statement. You cheapen your own opinion by not following the example of the Frenchman who first wore your handle.
