The answer to why Chinese products are CRAP isn’t as simple as you make it out to be. It surely can’t be pegged solely on a political system. There’s a much more simple explanation for why Chinese products are crap. It’s…(wait for it) BECAUSE WE BUY IT!!! (“we” meaning not me when I can help it)
China is exporting CRAP products to the U.S. by the shipload and the people of the U.S. are buying those CRAP products. They quickly get the message that quality doesn’t matter when they are selling to consumers who are happy to buy effectively disposable goods. The Chinese are merely providing the market with what it apparently wants, and I don’t judge them negatively for this. We vote with our dollars, so to speak. In this case, a large number of American consumers vote for CRAP quality items.
I suspect that there are a lot of other countries that don’t see all the CRAP Chinese products that we do. There’s a reason for that.
Come on now people, it’s not racism to say “Chinese factories make shitty tools”, or such. It’s a damn FACT! (IME) of course
I am in the building/mechanical trades, and have used every power tool known.
In 25 years, I have never seen a China manufactured tool last for shit compared to tools made in the US, UK, AUS, Europe or any “western” country.
On the job, Chinese made power tools won’t last a damn day sometimes.
I have seen people get HURT more than once using cheap ass Chinese tools ie. sockets shattering, lifting devices failing, etc.
I am sure the Chinese are more than capable of making quality tools, it’s just that they are using inferior materials/manufacturing methods
Yep, I’m gonna trust my life (or my employees) to that $148.95 “8 ton hoist” from Harbor Freight.
Nope, I will spend $1200 on shit I know won’t collapse and kill somebody.
Get off your PC (“your a racist”) high horse on this shit. Anybody that actually uses tools to make a living knows where I am coming from.
People can die when inferior tools fail, get fucking real!
Why make the distinction? Isn’t shitty workmanship international? Why please why make the distinction?
In My opinion there is racism going on when you choose to add a race to your assessment of the workmanship of any paticular product. Is china worse than everyone else? Or are you just not seeing that an awful lot of what we buy and use is made in china, so it seems like all those shitty things you’re buying “come from china”
I missed this silly ass post on my way to the silly ass post following yours. Glad I stumbled upon it so that I can give you a hearty FUCK YOU for trying to portray what I said as “blatant racism.” Saying “products” is a fucking light-year away from saying “people” and your attempt to draw the connection says more about you than it does about me.
products are the intellectual and physical output of one or more people. I’m simply saying that by criticising the product you are indirectly criticising the people who made it. Which is fine if it’s true. But you chose to include the word ‘chinese’. so you are criticising the output of specifically chinese workers. So on some level you are criticising the people.
I said ‘not far away’. Maybe that was wrong. But I stand by my opinion that the statement ‘chinese products are crap’ is still basically racist.
[QUOTE=voltaire]
When did China become a race?
QUOTE]
Race Klaatu Racism isn’t bla…er… isn’t binary <whew> As soon as you start pigeon-holing something and then criticising it you are opening yourself up to accusasions of prejudice.
Well, if we’re going to throw around the word “racist” so liberally, I’m going to go ahead and call you a racist for not capitalizing the word “Chinese” repeatedly. You blatantly racist bastard you.
Let’s agree to disagree about whether there’s racism going on. I’m not saying you’re evil or anything, just that there exists some amount of anti-Chinese sentiment, even if it’s not deliberate, in some of the things being said.
I pitted Budweiser once. The thread quickly grew into a discussion of Good American Beers, and how the imported stuff was crap. I just think you have to think twice about what you say. You can argue it till you’re blue in the face, but on the surface of it the broad statements being thrown around can quite easily be percieved on first impression as racist, therefore they should be re-thought.
I’ve long respected your views and opinions, but on this topic, you’ve gone way the fuck off the deepend. You’re over-analyzing people’s statements, implying meanings that were never there (as the people who you’ve quoted have attested to) and thrown around the race card as if it were candy on the fourth of July.
I’m not saying anyone means to be racist! I’m saying the things being said are indirectly racist. Perhaps I might go so far as to say people are being careless. Just because I’m not doing a very good job of explaining it, doesn’t mean it’s not true. I’m just a crap debator, especially at this stupid hour.
