Godspeed You! Black Emperor

Another band to check out is Boards of Canada. I particularly like this one.

Also God Is An Astronaut.

You might also like Tycho. His stuff isn’t post-rock, but it’s a shoegazy cousin.

And then there’s Hammock, who for me is right up there with GY!BE.

I listened to a bit of the track you linked, but found it a bit challenging. I love Sigur Ros but they are much more ‘up beat’ and musical, compared to what I listened to for GSY!BE.

I’ve never listened to Mogwai, can someone suggest a good ‘representative’ track?

Mogwai has some stylistic range so it’s difficult to pick one song to be representative, but I think this version of “I’m Jim Morrison, I’m dead” gives a pretty good idea. It doesn’t really start till about 90 seconds in, so give it some time.

Mogwai Fear Satan is one of their most popular tracks. Note: it’s over 16 minutes long.

Thanks for those suggestions, I’m really enjoying listening to **Mogwai **and will definitely pick up an album on iTunes.

Subscribing to remind myself to listen later…

I wanted to like them since they are opening for a NIN concert I am going to. I’m not really feeling it so far, unfortunately.

Well, I was bored after about 5 minutes and then went poking around at different time stamps.

I’m still bored.

Sorry. There’s a reason why I’ve never heard of this group.

If I wanted some background music for a Sunday afternoon nap, this would be it.

Yes, any band you’ve never heard of is probably terrible.

Did you listen to it? It’s like geriatric whales mating on Valium.

First time I noticed them was watching 28 Days Later, this track: Godspeed You! Black Emperor - East Hastings (GREAT QUALITY, Live @ Troxy, London, 14-12-2010) - YouTube

Wow, you have bad taste in music.
