Hi folks,
I will be in HK January 24-27, so I have four days. I have to admit I haven’t done enough research about stuff to do. I will be staying in the wanchai area.

I would like to get a nice professional photo taken with the missus, is there a place that does this? Preferably an outside shot. Anyone know a place where I can do this?

I remember hearing about soupcarts that have never been cleaned because the soup carts operate 24 hours a day, and that is supposedly the secret of the flavor. I can’t find this at all googling, so does anyone know where I could try this? I have a pretty strong stomach.
Also I’m open to any cool touristy things to do while I am there, I’ve asked some Chinese friends but they don’t have any specific good “must do’s” while there.
Thanks!
Ride the ferry…go to Victoria Peak…there used to be a double decker street car, that’s fun at night.
Moved to IMHO from Cafe Society.
Warning: If you’re over 6’, you WILL hit your head while riding the streetcar.
Wanchai, where you’re staying, is the red light district, so there are a number of girly bars down Lockhart road.
Since you are with your wife, perhaps it’s not advisable.
What are your interests? If it’s food, HK has some amazing restaurants.
Or if it’s sites you want to see, then take the peak tram ride up to the peak and get a spectacular view of HK and the harbor. If you like shopping, there is plenty of that in central on the island side as well as Tsim Tsa Tsui on the Kowloon side. Or perhaps you may prefer a trip down to Stanley market, where you can also enjoy a nice beer after shopping around the stalls.
If you’ve got kids with you, HK Disney is not bad.
Frankly, it really depends on your interest. Have fun!
Try the roasted pigeons - it is yummy.
You can check in for the airport at the downtown MTR line where you can also be an express ticket to the airport
Be sure to eat at the street carts and the hole in the wall noodle stalls - I’m not good enough to tell you what to order, but if you can get reccommendations go with it - my bet if you don’t have a “tour guide” would be to ask your front desk folk where are the good places nearby to eat - and specify to them you want “local” and not tourist.
Not a street car but a tram on a railway track. Victoria Peak is a great place to go have dinner at night overlooking Victoria Harbor, although it can get cloudy and obscure the view…try and go on a clear night.
Also every night at 8PM there is a light display on most of the downtown buildings that is best viewed near the Avenue of Stars across from the majority of buildings.
Hong Kong’s terrific! Victoria Peak is a must, and if I remember correctly, there’s a place up there where they’ll take a picture of you pulling your wife in an old-fashioned rickshaw - kind of a nice memento.
Take a ferry ride across the harbor.
Shop…anywhere, everywhere.
Read Hong Kong by Jan Morris for some great history/atmosphere before you go. Have fun!
