A friend and I are planning a 2 month adventure leaving in mid-January. We are planning to start in Quito and head south, hopefully to Lake Titicaca. (We’ve been talking about going there since 4th grade.) So, anyone have ideas on where to go and how to get there?

- I looked into going to Peru once, Macchu Picchu and all that. Prices for most everything there were pretty cheap, but various local rebels convinced me otherwise.

- What I did find is that taking a bus in the US could save me a good amount of money:
Plane fare from St Louis to Miami: $600
Bus fare from St Louis to Miami: $50
Plane fare from Miami to Peru (on national carrier): $600. - Do note that these prices were a couple years ago, and I don’t recall if these were round-trip or not… At the time, you had to use the Peru national carrier out of Miami; US planes didn’t fly that portion of the journey but if you’ve got a couple days and the patience to spare, taking a bus to Miami would save some bucks.
