Anyone know anything about them? I’m looking at traveling this Christmas, and they have suspiciously low prices (found via bing travel) from Seattle to Lima. $700 cheaper than anyone else. Their website is all in Spanish, which I can poorly translate, and flights to other countries in SA seem priced more appropriately for that time of year. Is there some kind of scam or trick going on here?
Also, if not Peru, where should I go for two weeks this Christmas?
I’ve flown Copa regularly, from Panama to the US and also in Central America. I have found them to be excellent, and much better than US airlines including American and Delta. (I know that’s not saying much.) You will often get amenities such as meals and movies on the same routes where they are not provided by the US carriers. The main drawback I have found is that their flights to the US are often at inconvenient times (very early in the morning or late at night).
My last experience with COPA was probably 10 years ago. At the time, I ranked them highly for having newer equipment than other airlines, good service and all-around pleasant experience. I was traveling on business and wasn’t making the reservations, so I can’t comment on prices.
My parents flew them this year. They are a Panamanian company. The only drawback that their flight had is that they arrived at the ungodly hour of 3:00am on a weekday. Otherwise, they said the service was fine.
So-far reputable airline with good service, fresh equipment. Most flights hubbed via Panama City, obviously. Has close partnership and joint frequent flyer program with (and until last year was part-owned by) the US’s Continental Airlines (the COPA airplane paintjob is a variation of CO’s).
Your segment out of and into Seattle itself would be on a partner airline, maybe Continental itself, switching to COPA at either IAH or PTY depending on number of stops.
On the top rightmost of the opening webpage, next to the search window, you should see two links: “Contáctenos” and “Otros Países/Español(Cambiar)” Clicking this last one should open a javascript dialog box where you can choose the country/language configuration for your site access.
A quick check in Orbitz for SEA-LIM flights, bracketing the dates around Dec. 20th to 27th actually has Continental itself beating its codeshare partner by a significant margin, so you may want to look at multiple sites including CO’s own.
