Due to health problems, I am going to be going into surgery next Tuesday morning (the 15th of May). I didn’t think they would get to me quite this fast :eek: They aren’t exactly going to cut into me - they are going to insert a catheter (?) into a vein and use it to place tiny pellets into some benign tumors (fibroids if you know what that is and the procedure is called embolization) which will hopefully shrink the tumor and make my problems go away. But I will be under twilight anesthesia, and probably spend the night in the hospital. Whoopee! It’s supposed to hurt pretty badly, but I’ve had a history of reacting reasonably well to pain.

Keep your fingers crossed for me - both that it goes well, and that the procedure is effective quickly - it has about a 90% success rate, and can take a while for the procedure to have an effect.

Mom will be taking me to the hospital, and taking care of me afterwards. I’ll try to get her to post my status on the board if possible, or I’ll have her call JimB or Grace (Grace - send me your phone #, I can’t find it). However, a visit would be nice - I’ll be in Harris, downtown Ft. Worth, but obviously I don’t know what room I’ll be in.

I suppose it’s too much to hope for to have an internet connection in my hospital room. :slight_smile:

I found out this morning I have to be at the hospital between 5:30 and 6:00 AM :eek: And no food :frowning:

I need to start paying more attention to the boards again. Sorry to hear about the procedure. You’re making it sound like it’s not a big deal, bt it sound like one to me. Remember. If you need anything, anything at all, don’t hesitate to call Jim. And I guess I could help too if JimB, Grace, Balance, Palmyra, PSieker, and Chef are unavailable.

I just sent you an email to your yahoo account. Please let me know if there’s anything I can do to help before or after the surgery. Even though you’ll only be the hospital a day, I’m sure it’ll still take a few days to recover. I can bring you dinner or something.

My prayers are with you that you will have a smooth procedure and a speedy recovery (I remember you describing your troubles in the Chick TMI thread a few months ago); I hope this will take care of the fibroids so you’ll be back dancing in no time. :slight_smile:

I got a call from Zyada’s mother to say she went into the OR an hour or so back. (The time was pushed back by an emergency.)

She should be done in an hour or two, and her mother says she’ll call then.

I’ll post again as soon as the board will let me.
