Goldchloride

For a certain photographic process, I need goldchloride.
Being quite expensive, I wondered if I could make it myself.
I have about 15 gr. of 18kt metallic gold at hand.
Any tips ?

Gold chlorides are neurotoxins and some are volatile.
It’d be MUCH safer just to buy the stuff.

You’ll have to copy and paste that link into your browser. This board doesn’t like the comma after 20SULIMAN.

it is notoriously hard to make. I have tried. I used 23K gold placed in straight 6M HCl, and it did nothing, even after standing for a day. Maybe it needs stronger acid. Also, I wonder if it is soluable in the acid.

Good luck though!
