Golden Age reen Lantern VS Golden Age Starman--Who wins?

Both members of the Justice Society of America.

Both deriving their powers from artifacts.

Green Lantern LINK has his mystical power ring. In theory, it can do anything. But, it can’t effect wood, needs to be re-charged periodically, & GL tires as he uses it.

Starman LINK has his Gravity rod, hat draws power from the stars themselves. No particular weaknesses, doesn’t tire the user, about as powerful as the ring (more or less), but nowhere near as flexible.

Who is the last Golden Age Hero standing.

I want a good clean fight. LET’S GET IT ON!

the title should read “Green Lantern”. :smack:

Well, all Starman would really have to do is make a wooden suit of armor/shield/whatever and GL is toast. Or fight him in a lumberyard. Yeah, GL’s got the power ring but a whole lot of good it can do to stop him from getting whacked in the temple by a two by four

I remember a story in which GL decided to “wish” all the evil to vanish from the Earth. So all the people disappeared.

You don’t want to fight a man who can simply WISH you out of existence… from the other side of the world!

In many comics, including The Golden Age miniseries and the ongoing Starman series, both written by James Robinson, Green Lantern is referred to as the “big gun” of the Justice Society-era heroes, the most powerful, the one everyone looked up to. Even Starman himself said this on more than one occasion.

Of course GL’s whole wood weakness was a problem, but other than that he was The Man.

Green Lantern’s ring is far more versatile than Starman’s Comic Rod(oh the jokes that come to mind).

Again, the weakness where wood is concerned throws things into the air.

Couldn’t Green Lantern just use his ring to take the rod away from Starman?

Checkmate!

GL.

Even if Starman knows of the fight beforehand and constructs a wooden suit of armor or something, all GL has to do is pick up a big rock and smash him with it or throw Starman into space and burn it off.

Starman’s only chance would be to use the wood thing (wow, dirty) to try and disable Alan before he was able to do anything, because otherwise GL can just use his ring to smash the cosmic rod right as the fight starts (those cosmic rods aren’t the most durable things, from what I’ve seen).

Even if he decides to play fair, Alan’s ring can do everything the cosmic rod can and more.
