Golden Girls theory

Taking an extended leave from school, I’ve become a hopeless couch potato. After watching “The Golden Girls” for the 150,678th time (approximately), I don’t think that I’ve ever seen a show that had so many “flashback episodes.” My theory: no other show ever did. Does anyone want to contest that, or agree with me? Just curious.

P.S. Yes, I know I have no life

Oh, I think there was a question in there, although, IMHO, a better forum would be, um, IMHO.

The old Dick Van Dyke Show had tons of flashbacks – Rob in the Army, Rob and Laura just starting out, Rob and Laura moving to New Rochelle, etc.

Ah little grasshopper, what about “Kung Fu”? Wasn’t that mostly flashbacks?

My vote is for “Family Ties”. They had more flashbacks than Timothy Leary.

I hesitate to jump in here because it’ll reveal just how bad a couch potato I am too, but I think what Jeremy means are the huge number of flashback shows on the Golden Girls that were essentially pieced together scenes from other episodes. The Dick van Dyke show, on the other hand, had flashbacks, but they were original scenes. I dunno why the Golden Girls did this so often though.

Family ties is still my vote. Remember the time just last season when we…

Ah you people just missed a common thread.

NBC. During the 80s NBC shows thrived on them. Once a year most NBC shows did the flashback. (NBC Shows pre COS that is)

Family Ties, Night Court, Golden Girls, did them. A lot of shows do the 22 new and one clip show contracts.

The Simpson also do this. Though not so much anymore (Due to the possiblity of comparing the better old episodes to the current.) Which is better known as the Rhoda Curse.

Highlander the series had close to 120 episodes, all of which had at least one flashback, most of which had many more. This has to be the all time champ.
