Actually, the one I saw was “My gifts are (15>80 tulips)(30>120 tulips)(60>180 tulips)”

I’m guessing that tulips are dollars in this example.

I guess I really should start a GQ thread. I saw more than a few abbreviations that I had no idea what they were about. Guess I lead far to sheltered a life.

OK, I thought about the pro’s and con’s and am going to try a new way (for me, at least) to hook up with women via online dating: Craig’s List.

Pro’s: It’s free (and thus more available to a bigger pool of women). People have posted about their good experiences with on this site. Being through the internet, it cuts down on the face-to-face rejection factor.

Con’s: Some entries look bogus (links to porn or fee-based dating sites). Fears that I’ll end up robbed or swindled or hooked up with what turns out be a prostitute.

So, if you’ve successfully hooked up with someone through Craig’s List (sexually or otherwise), do you have any tips to ensure success? Mistakes to avoid? Things to say or not to say in my ad or in response emails to someone else’s ad?

I have checked out CraigsList some time ago and think it’s okay but also not my cup of tea. I like online dating and that’s why I only want to be registered at the best online dating sites that are around. There are so many frauds and fake members at some dating sites that you really have to be careful when you try to find a partner on those sites.

I have checked out CraigsList some time ago and think it’s okay but also not my cup of tea. I like online dating and that’s why I only want to be registered at the (link removed) that are around. There are so many frauds and fake members at some dating sites that you really have to be careful when you try to find a partner on those sites.

I’m female, so my experiences are likely to be a bit different from yours regardless of your internet dating forum, but here’s my tuppence-worth:

I’ve used OkCupid and Craigslist to meet people, and the yield is much lower and much dicier with CL. Had a much lower batting average (emails : responses) on CL, and even lower (response : meeting in person) ratio.

I posted a picture once on CL - just a regular pic on me in a t-shirt, mind you - and got numerous cock shots and prepositions in reply. On a dating site, even a free one, there is a bit more of a screen (albeit a screen with holes large enough for flying palmetto bugs to fly through). It’s a bit more of an investment time-wise, but worth it if you’re half-way serious about meeting someone.
