I haven’t played a flying game for a very long time, think Top Gun 2 for NES and some F-15 game that might have been for the SNES. Now I have a PS2. Are there any that are easy to find used, somewhere in between arcade and full simulation, and enjoyable whether or not you put in a lot of time? Preferably with reasonably modern, but not futuristic, planes. TIA.
Console flight sims start and stop with the Ace Combat series. I’ve heard particularly good things about Ace Combat 5. You might even want to track down the special package with the joystick and large squadron patch.
Step 1) Trow PS2 in dumpster
Step 2) Buy X-Box
Step 3) But Crimson Skies
Step 4) Play Crimson Skies
Step 5) Curse those bastards that made it a launch title, so its sales were dismal comapred to Halo, and no sequel was made.
Seriously, thuogh, as far as PS2 goes, I don’ty know of any with non-spaceship type things. But, if you still want to try, both Jedi Starfighter and Star Wars: Starfighter are good. The Jedi oe being a bit better, IMO.
Step 6) Buy PC
Step 7) Buy and enjoy one of the dozens of great flight sims.
My friend keeps giving me rave reviews about Ace Combat. It is not the most realistic or accurate flight simulator ever, but it is enjoyable.
I have and have beaten Ace Combat 4. I’ve been thinking about picking up AC5 just to see if it’s better/worse or what. I’ll probably pick it up at Blockbuster first though.
