Looking for good PS4 games

I don’t like the first person shooter games. Other than that I am open to suggestions.

The last of us Remastered (assuming you didn’t play the PS3 version).

Transistor - Did you play Bastion? If not, for shame! Pick it up on last gen consoles or PC (It’s 2D, anything plays it). This is more of the same with more tactical combat.

Diablo 3 - great loot-driven action RPG.

Don’t starve - Survival indie game with elements of horror.

Shadow of Mordor - Think Batman combat meets Assassin’s Creed and toss in a pretty intricate and interesting AI concept called the Nemesis System which sets you off against a set of Orc captains who have desires and goals of their own, who will fight and ally amongst each other, and who will react to your actions and remember your past deeds.

Finally, Tomb Raider (again if you didn’t’ play it on PS3).

I did not have any system prior to PS4

Would like to find an air combat game but I guess they don’t exist now. That’s about the only type of combat game I like. Looks like PS4 games are just not my style.

You probably should have considered the game library before purchasing the system.

PC is where you’ll find a number of air combat games. Space flight sims are also in strong force on PC if you’re into that.

Return your PS4, and if you can scrounge up another $200, you can build a nice little gaming PC.

? Why did you buy a PS4 then?

There aren’t that many games out right now that are must plays. Devs are migrating away from the 360/PS3 era much more slowly than previous gens (IMHO).

Games that I’ve enjoyed so far:

Assassins Creed 4. Disliked AC 3 quite a bit but loved the colors and ship fighting in this one.

Shadows of Mordor is pretty good. Not as great as the reviews lead me to believe but pretty good nonetheless.

Last of Us is a must play if you didn’t on the PS3.

Other than that there’s not much there. Lots of AAA games finally coming out in the next 6months or so though.

ETA: If you are waiting for an air combat game you should just sell your PS4 right now because I don’t think you’ll see another serious flight/flight combat game released on consoles again. They sell only to a small niche of the market and few devs spend money on A- or B titles anymore.

If you had gotten a 360 instead you could have played:
IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey
Ace Combat: Assault Horizon
Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation
Birds of Steel

But you didn’t, so you can’t. Even then, flight sims really are best enjoyed on PC with a proper joystick. You might see an Ace Combat on the PS4 eventually…yeah, not for years.

I really find it hard to believe someone would drop hundreds of dollars on a game system without having even a cursory knowledge of what games have been released for it, but apparently it happens…

I knew what was out for PS4 , I assumed better games (for my tastes) would be coming out later. Also my son really wanted to use a PS4. He likes the shooter games. It was never meant to be just for me.

Of course the biggest problem is the lack of PS3 games on PS4 which I know is just a blatant money grab. I guess I fell for the line that Sony was going to change that. I guess they might eventually.

The only game available where I bought my PS4 was Need For Speed Rivals. The game was lots of fun, if you like car racing/ car crashing games. There are 2 modes: You can be a Cop, or you can be a Racer. Lot’s of really cool cars, great graphics, very challenging. Lots of fun!

I did it.

I’m sure air combat games will come. Eventually.

Have you considered naval combat? The best parts of “Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag” are the high seas piracy and fortress assaults.

It sucks but I’m not sure that’s entirely true. The PS3 used that wacky Cell Processor, and was pretty much the ONLY thing in the world that did, and I’m not sure it can be emulated on the PS4. The PS3 couldn’t emulate PS2 games at any point. The only reason you could play PS2 games on the very first run of the PS3 was because the systems essentially had PS2 chipset built into the PS3, which they dropped due to cost after the first run of the console.

The point being I don’t know if it is even possible for the PS4 to play PS3 games off disc even if they wanted it to. This is why they are doing all that streaming shit that’s going to go nowhere, because it doesn’t require the console to do much of anything.

Heh, remember all the talk from Sony about how the cell would be in EVERYTHING. Refrigerators, coffee makers, your car!?

And if you believed them, I have a bridge to sell you. Sony can barely get their TV division to talk to their console division.

Yeah. It was going to be a revolution. Then it was in nothing. Wonder how much they lost in RD costs on that processor.

That’s wrong - the 1st gen consoles had the ps2 chips in them, the 2nd gen consoles had an emulator, the 3rd and later gens could only run the ps2 games that went on the store.

Yeah, and the “2nd gen” consoles PS2 emulation was…shall we say, less than 100%.
