Good Bye PennySaver

PennySaver Goes Out of Business After 50 Years; Hundreds Lose Their Jobs

Whenever I need a plumber or electrician, but was short of money , you could find deals (They want $100 for a clog, I’ll do it for $50) in the PennySaver, along with job offers, used cars, etc.

I don’t think I ever bought anything through PennySaver, not once, but its passing still makes me feel a little sad.

Is that just California’s? I haven’t heard anything about ours. We do have a couple fallbacks though - the Horsetrader and Green Sheets.

My heart goes out to everyone who is losing their jobs.

That’s some crazy dedication there.

Heard this on KFI this morning. It seems they want to concentrate online. Sad for all the employees who suddenly, without warning, lost their income.
Best wishes to all.
I just wish the management had better foresight and gonads to inform their workers what was happening.
Imagine showing up for work and reading a sign “We are out of business”.
Assholes.

It’s been about a decade since I lived in Sandy Eggo, but I vaguely remember their offices were in Clairemont – Ruffin Road, maybe? I thought they also published the Trader circulars – Auto Trader, Bike Trader, Toy Trader, et cetera (?) In fact, I thought the business was called Trader Publications.
It seems to me that eBay and Craigslist tend to undercut their model with faster updates and easier searching.

Pennysaver is apparently so widespread that my wife-to-be recognized it when she first moved from Colorado to live with me. If they’re not printing that one, are they continuing the Trader circulars?

–G?

Let’s lament the buggy whip industry also.
