Nice guy sure, professional sure; he also has a reputation among comics for stealing others’ material.
Smart and hip, too, but I’ve heard he loves him some sheep.

Smart and hip, too, but I’ve heard he loves him some sheep.
If true, for that alone I owe him my undying gratitude.
[sub]Yes, I know it’s not true, but Firefly still ate it raw.[/sub]
Never heard a bad word, and have heard plenty of good ones, about Peter Cushing. In fact, from accounts given by his co-stars in various dire Hammer and Amicus horror films, the man was a saint.
You are dead to me, you hear? Dead! (And I so liked your wife, too.)
And he has bad BO.
And Clark Gable had bad halitosis.
I admire you for your bravery, sir, and only hope you live long enough see this.
Well, you would smell pretty bad if you had been lovin’ sheep, too.
Along the lines of the list provided by the OP, David Niven comes to mind.
No way. He once intentionally gave someone testicular cancer during a game of water polo just for scoring a goal on him.
Fred Rogers. A gentleman in all situations.

A truly and honestly good person.
I’ve heard that Cary Grant and Clark Gable–while by no means bad guys–could be dark and petty and temperamental . . . Normal behavior, in short. But I have heard neither of them was always “user-friendly.”
Paul Newman. As big a star as anyone, but I’ve never read a bad story about him. No raging ego, married to the same woman for almost 50 years with nary a scandal or rumor of adultery. Plus he’s got his “Newman’s Own” product line which has raised hundreds of millions of dollars for charities (and ALL of the profits go to charity). The cherry on the sundae is that the Newman’s Own products really are good quality.
How about a special mention for Ron Howard who has turned the rare double trick of not only transitioning from a child star to a long career as an adult, but also did it without any scandals.
I recall reading that **Drew Carey ** has always treated those around him well.
That’s doesn’t even count, 'cause that’s what he’s famous for. I cried like a little girl when he died. But did you know he swum some crazy number of laps a day, year round… naked?
I hadn’t thought about Dolly Parton; I indeed hear that she’s all class.
From what I have read Eva Marie Saint is one of the most un-movie-star people that has been a big movie star.
gigi apparently disagrees.
Eh, depends how you use them.
Huh, probably. I personally have not-but you’d be the expert in this case.
Hmmm…hey, what about Lassie?
Hmmm…let’s see, Jimmy Stewart?
What about sports stars? Roberto Clemente had an excellent rep, even before his untimely death made him a hero. I remember one of my teachers telling us about the time she and her classmates had a field trip to the airport, and the Pirates just happened to be there. She said of all of them, he was the ONLY ONE who would sign autographs for all the kids.
That bitch?
If we’re talking sports people, Tony Gwynn is a class act through and through. Junior Seau is as well, from what I’ve heard. The media and the front office hate Donnie Edwards these days, but he’s a good guy too. He plays online videogames with his fans and makes self-deprecating jokes about his gameday [football] performance in the game [MMORPG].
