I really need to pay closer attention to this thread. I work Tuesday - Saturday and it’s really messing with my sense of time/date. Saturdays are good though since my latest appointment is usually 4:30. 6:00 or later should work fine for me.
I’d like to say a definite Yes, but I’ll have to check my wife’s calendar. She travels a great deal, so if she’s in town, we try to have some time together to ourselves. But if she’s not, I’ll do my best to be there–I’d like to meet some local Dopers. Heck, even if she is in town, maybe I should suggest it and see if she would like to go.
I’ll have a firmer answer the closer we get to July 30, so for now, perhaps you’d better pencil me in as a “Maybe.” But I will let you know in enough time, if reservations are necessary.
I vote for the 11th Ave. Chili Club, only because I’ll actually be able to get there. Perhaps I should phone and make a reservation, it’s sort of a small place…
Well, if you move it up a couple of days, then you’ll miss me, as my hissy fit above details.
However, that being said, you guys do whatever you like - I’ll be at the 11th Ave Chili Club on the 30th of July at 6:30 PM eating LGP. If anyone would like to join me, they’re welcome to.
Oh yeah, that’s right. Sorry, adam, it looks like we’re doing it on the 30th. I for one am not opposed to going out for dinner twice that week, however.
Saturday July 30 at 6:30pm works for me. I can also try to make it out to the earlier one depending on my schedule. I went to the 17th ave location last night and was seriously impressed. A small baby was heard weeping softly in the kitchen.
Back in the heady, dot.com days of 2000 I got to spend two weeks in Calgary. My company’s office was on 17th Avenue, within walking distance of Chianti’s. We ate there twice while I was up there, and loved it both times. As soon as I saw the title of this thread, that’s the restaurant I was thinking about, but couldn’t remember the name.
A year later, my wife and I spent our honeymoon in Calgary and Banff. Ate at Melrose, Joey Tomato’s, and Brewster’s in Calgary, and the Maple Leaf Inn and Grizzly House in Banff. Don’t know if they’re not the best places, but just mentioning any of these places gets both my wife and myself misty.
As soon as we’re out of debt, the first paycheck is putting us on a plane to Calgary.
