grin Could be worse - at least he’s the Smart Challenging Boss Nonetheless an Asshat Without People Skills who’s Really Generous At Bonus Time. Plus it’s sort of a no-fail work situation. Even if I despise it and him and bail after a year or two, nobody will even blink. Even people in other firms are aware of his general level of asshattery. I’ve had people from other firms (and clients!) call me to check his mood and disposition before talking to him. It’s an adventure.

I still think that if you ever get a chance, if there’s one topic you could really reach this guy through, it could be if you expressed real interest in his customs… maybe you’ll find a way to “befriend” him, as it were, and last more than just a year or two! Or not… you know the guy, I don’t. In any case, I think the basics we’ve given you here (He will not work on the Sabbath or Sabbath-like holidays; avoid eating around him if it’s not something he’s offering; don’t put yourself in a situation where the two of you are alone in a closed room) should see you through the first stages. Good on you for picking up some books and learning more. You’ll do fine!

I should mention I had hair past my hips and a fondness for tanktops (since our office had no air conditioning), as well as copious cleavage.

I think I’ll do some reading - but thank you guys! He’s enough of a challenge without bewildering religious customs randomly cropping up.
