Good lord..I just watched The Saw. again..stay out if you haven't watched it.

Great movie.

Very intense.

To intense to not have comic relief.

But thats another thread.

Now…

Who did it…?
Any of the “usual suspects”?

No…
Some guy who is talked about for 30 seconds or so!!!

Give me a frigging break.

This guy layed there and played dead for how many hours???
I hate movie makers that cop out.

Yeah that movie had more holes in it than a piece of Swiss cheese. Meh. Enough teenaged boys were impressed by it that Blockbuster ordered 130 copies of it.

I don’t think it was a cop-out. A stretch, maybe. He’d have to have devised some very sly way to keep his breathing from being detected.

There are a few hints dropped that pointed to him – enough that it’s unfair to characterize that twist as a “cop-out.”

I liked Saw well enough. They made a nice little movie with very little. It would have been nice if the script were shopped around a bit more before it got made – it could have benefitted from a little polishing and a better cast.

It ain’t got nothing to do with plot holes.

It has to do with taking the character with nothing else but being named John and making him the killer.
Screw that.

Just give me one.

There were more clues. Like how “the killer was trying to teach people to appreciate life”, which I think he said himself at least once, and the cop caught on to as well. Now who would be bitter about people who lived, and didn’t appreciate it? Maybe someone who was… dying?

Also, a huge hole relating to what you mentioned is the fact that Elwes’ character was a fricking surgeon, and he didn’t notice the dude was alive? Jeebus, if there is one thing a surgeon should be good at, it’s identifying vital signs.

I haven’t seen the movie for a few months, and only once, but there were a few.

“The killer likes to take a front row seat for the action.” Sure, you’ve got the misdirection with the camera, but it’s not consistent with the on-premises views that were established.

Also, the doctor was a suspect because something of his was taken from the hospital and left at the scene of one of the murders. More misdirection with the creepy intern, but who else was shown to have opportunity?

Oh yeah, and the already-mentioned motive.

I figured out who the killer was about halfway through the movie, so there was definitely evidence planted before that point. I didn’t figure out that he was the guy on the floor, though.

Yeah, it’s weird that they didn’t notice he was alive, but they weren’t exactly in a sound state of mind, so I’ll give it a pass. Good thing he didn’t sneeze, though.

I disagree about the “too intense not to have comic relief” thing. I hate it when movies (especially horror movies) feel obligated to ligthen the mood. If it’s supposed to be scary, let it be scary.

It was a good horror movie. Really bad acting, but it scared the shit out of me.

Was it just me or towards the end of the movie when the two guys shackled up began getting more hysterical did their voices start to sound like they got kicked in the nuts? It seemed like their voices got all high

I think it is definitely one of the better horror movies I have seen in a while.

God what an utterly crappy movie. The ending was absolutely laughable.

So Elwes character, who earlier figured out how to get the tape recorder by having the other guy use his shirt as a lasso of sorts, can’t reach his cell phone not 2 feet away and, instead of using his shirt in a likewise manner, cuts his hand off, even after sounds of screaming (which he takes for his family being killed) come out of the phone?

Sorry, that’s completely implausible. There’s not a single explanation out there that smooths that one over.

Then, THEN, the other guy is given another set of instructions, and is told that the key to his chain went down the drain. How’s he supposed to get that? He’s chained to the wall! I thought the killer made every single trap of his escapable. No, the movie makers on this one broke every single rule they established during the film - there’s no excuse for that.

This movie can really only be appreciated as a gore-fest.

The acting is terrible.

There’s some suspense, but it has WAY too many holes to really enjoy. If you’re able to shut your brain down a little and get into the gore, it can be enjoyable.

Has anyone mentioned how bad the acting was?

Because I don’t think it’s been made clear enough, there needs to be more emphasis in this thread about how unbelievably incredibly laughably completely inexcusably horrible every single line out of Cary Elwes’ mouth was. It completely destroyed any intensity there could have been (given, it would be ridiculous even with good acting) in the last scenes.

Earlier in the movie, when they were talking about the victim that escaped the head thing by cutting the key out of the guy’s stomach, the cops mentioned a drug that made the guy appear dead. He started stirring just before the woman started cutting.

Just popping in to say, once again, that this movie was the biggest peice of shit I have seen in recent memory.

That is all.

The twisty ending was a huge letdown. When I thought it was the orderly, I kept wondering how he could be in 2 places at once. Then, SURPRISE! It’s really dead guy. But still… How the hell was he able to electrocute them while laying still on the floor!!!

I found the whole thing depressing. Not because it was dark and morbid, but because Danny Glover used to be such a good actor. It’s sad when you see someone’s career bottoming out. :frowning:

Unlike other horribley awful casting choises, I can speak with an english accent.

Pardon my spelling.

Agreed. There was a point near the climax where he screams and starts crying. The acting was so terrible, I was appalled. I don’t think I have ever seen “crying” that unrealistic, outside of a comedy.

I eagerly awaited the release of this movie. The premise sounded like it could make for a really creepy movie. Maybe the first creepy movie since The Shining. Imagine my dismay…

The acting was horrible, so horrible that, to me, it detracted from anything good about the movie. It may have been very gory, but it was not scary. All I want is a scary movie! Is that too much to ask for?!
