A friend wants to buy two 2008 PT Cruisers, new. She doesn’t want anything fancy, just AC & power windows/locks. She will pay cash.
What’s a good price? We had one dealership try to convince us they could go no lower than $17,000 each, but that price seems unreasonable to me. What price should we shoot for?
Well, does she realize that unlike in other businesses, paying cash is not that desirable to the dealer? The dealer loses a chance to make money on the financing (and that part is generally more profitable for the dealer).
Where is she located? Are they auto transmissions?
We were very careful to act like we were going to finance both cars, because I figured the dealer got some sort of kickback for financing.
And yes, automatic - sorry, forgot about the type of transmission :smack:

Well, at Fitzmall (large East Coast dealer that posts online prices), they have 2009s for less than that, so I’d say 17k for 2008’s is not a good deal:
