Good tattoo shop in Chicago/suburbs?

There are quite a few Chicago Dopers here, so…

I’m thinking about finally getting my first tattoo, but I have no idea if there are places known for being good or for being bad. I can’t ask someone who has a good tat where they got theirs, because:

  1. They have tattoos that aren’t that great.
  2. They didn’t go anywhere local.

I’ve heard that Jade Dragon downtown Chicago is supposed to be THE place to go. Is Downers Grove Tattoo good? (I live in Naperville, so western burbs would be nice.)

I’m looking to get something black & white with possibly some shading, if that helps.

Any input?

Bump to hopefully get some input from the Chicago Dopers.

The Jade Dragon is the place. I don’t know anything about the burbs but when I got my tattoo um, more than ten years ago but less than twenty, it was the place. It really still is, clean and very reputable. Plus there was a bar right across the street for some last minute reinforcment

You might want to swing by the place on Belmont, between Clark and Sheffield. I’ve not actually gotten a tattoo there, but the place is clean and they seem to pride themselves on their reputation.
