Cooper, our 12 year old golden started coughing an not eating on Thursday last week. We took him to the vet, and after running some tests and imaging, was diagnosed with lung cancer.
After a weekend spent spoiling him we had the vet out on Monday to let him go. we were in the backyard, as he slipped away peacefully.
Goodby buddy. You were the best. I’m not sure where Goldens go after they die, but I hope they have goose chasing and all you can eat goose poop.
So sorry to hear. And indeed there are plenty of geese and their natural by-product on the other side. And an endless supply of ponds for them that Cooper will clear the evil fowl from one by one.
I’m so sorry. What a lovely dog. Those days when you know they’re the last ones are both horrible and priceless. You gave him the best end to his life that was possible, though. He was happy and spoiled, and let go peacefully before any inevitable suffering.
Sorry Cooper had to go to dog heaven, but my understanding is the dogs chase the geese for a while, then the geese chase the dogs, then they all lay down together for a happy nappy. Cooper will love it.
Cooper’s a great name for a dog. :: Dad, I brought you some snow to spread around in the house 'cause I’m A Good Boy ::
(Something in m’eye, 'scuse me)
