FTR, Forrest didn’t take her advice either.
Keep your head and your ass wired together.
I’ve always wanted to say that. I watched Platoon one too many times
Good luck brother.
Nah, this ain’t goodbye. This is “see you later”.
See you later, Will
[sub]And thank you[/sub]
Thank you for serving and trying to bring some order to a troubled part of the world.
Be safe.
Geez, WillSantini, you probably won’t see this post, but on the off chance you do, good luck and Godspeed.
I only just found this thread, as I was trying to figure how to contact you through the SDMB. Why you might wonder? Well, last April you, along with several other Dopers, helped write a thread in Cafe Society titled “Finish the Western” Some of us were considering doing a sequel and I have been trying to get the word out to those that participated.
Maybe we can name a character for you in “Return to Anderson’s Gulch” We Dopers will be hoping you come back safe and sound.
Good luck. Don’t drink the water. Take a copy of War and Peace. When come back, bring pirated DVDs.
Good luck and safe return. We’ll all be thinking of you.
Be assured I am serious, I’m an Air Force brat and haven’t made a single smart-ass remark about Marines in this thread
If you’d like the occasional care package (or know someone who does), feel free to pass along the info. I’ve got a little sister who is looking to adopt a soldier, but all our local organizations have discontinued their programs.
Don’t think of Iraq as military service. Think of it as a huge, sandy beach. Of course, this beach has big cities and little water. Also most of the beach goers don’t wear bathing suits either, and sometimes they’ll try to shoot you, even while you play volleyball (maybe they don’t understand the rules?). There are women though. Unfortunately, they tend to wear veils from head to toe instead of thong bikinis, and aren’t like those on “Girls Gone Wild” (but when they take off the veil, man do they get crazy!). Oh yeah, and they women may try to shoot you too. But other than that it is soooo like a beach vacation.
So bring sunscreen, a towel, a volleyball, a gun and flak jacket (you know, beach attire), be careful, and come back.
Smell ya later, Will. Good luck and be safe.
Semper Fi.
All the best**WillSantini.
Stay safe and come back to us, Shane…err…Will!
Stay safe, and we will all be thinking of you and missing you
Thank you, good luck, cover your ass, keep your nose clean & come back ASAP!
Thank you all for your well wishes. I’m in Iraq right now, at Al Asad air base. One internet cafe with a 2 hour wait, and a 30 minute time limit. This base isn’t too bad. When we are here in the rear we get hot chow and a bed to sleep in, but the showers are frigid. The sunsets are breathtaking. Kinda reminds me of 29 Palms. May I ask a favor of my Fellow Dopers, if anyone ventures down to Vegas, there is a small bar way down on Sahara called the Sahara Saloon, stop in and have a beer for me.
29 Palms… as in the Robert Plant song?
Glad to hear you’re still hale and hearty… come home safe, man.
Hey, Will! Great to hear from you!
We started Anderson’s Gulch II in Cafe Society…if you get a chance to stop by, do. We named the schoolmaster after you.
Best wishes for safety, Will. I won’t be in Vegas anytime in the forseeable future, but I will toast you right where I am. Cheers!
Good luck, man.
My advice: try to learn a bit of the lingo if you haven’t already. Be safe, smile a lot, and enjoy the sharwarma kebabs!
Don’t know you much. Which doesn’t prevent me from sending you my warmest wishes for a good stay, and a safe return.
Stay safe.
If you can, go on line with updates from over there.
*Have fun storming the castle! *
