Good luck to you eggo. But just curious, why close your bank accounts? What are you going to do for money? Carry it all with you or just rack it up on credit?
Eggo, I hope you will post here lots so we will know you are safe. Are you traveling by yourself? Are your parents worried?
[My oldest daughter, Angie Gailbird, just started posting here yesterday. If she finds out I posted this, she may give me a lecture about being overly protective.]
may the wind rise at your back
the road rise to meet your feet
may your thumb be long and persuasive
may… uh… the rain fall when you’re inside…
uh…
may uh…
You be safe and have fun, get dirty and learn stuff.
Wear sunscreen.
Day 3: I’m in Atlanta standing at a payphone, just thought I’d check up on you guys. I’m having the time of my life, I’ve met some great people, slept under a bridge in Nashville, hopped on a freight train–and got thrown off. (almost got arrested–fat cop: slow cop.) Hitchhiking is harder than it looks, no one wants to pick up strangers anymore…
I’m headed toward NYC next, it’ll probably take me a few days to get there, I’ll give you another update then.
Tisme, yes i’m lugging it all with me. (I currently own only three things that are not on my back–one of them is this laptop). I like the whole severing ties thing.
Spider Woman yes, on both counts. I’m traveling by myself, because no one wanted to quit their job to come with me. My mom is very worried, I have to call her every day or she is going to assume the worst–I understand though, I’m still her “wittle baby”…
no serial killers yet, but i did meet another guy that is doing the same thing I am (though he’s doing it for religous reasons), he’s been drifting for 6 months. we talked, we had fun, and we parted ways.
Grand adventure.

glad you are safe and I hope you will keep checking in and posting. Did you ever hear anything from the ACLU, or is that pretty much a dead issue?
