Navigate to the shortcut in your “Start Menu” under > All Programs > Google Chrome
On the shortcut in the program folder - right click (press once on right mouse button) on your shortcut and choose “properties” from the pop-up menu.
At the end of the command line in the “Target:” box add a space and then --disable-new-menu-style
It should look something like this:
C:\Users#######\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe --disable-new-menu-style
You will have to close and reopen (all) your chrome browser(s) you have opened and replace any other shortcuts you have with the newly edited one - and/or - you will have to unpin and then re-pin if you have any pinned.
Or you could leave it as is and wait for chrome to give you the option in settings. I couldn’t wait.
I did notice it, but clearly it didn’t bother me the way it bothers you. I assumed it was connected to a Windows Update I did, and didn’t think there would be a way to change it back
Sounds like an intentional change by Google - I wonder why.
Heh, I just started using GC so I have no idea what you guys are talking about.
Right now I only have about four favorites that are scrolled out at the top (or near top) of the browser. It’s not a problem now but what happens when I get up to 20 or so? Wher is it going to list them all?
Well I save links like they’re going out of style. Some I never go back to but most - I do at some point. So at first - when the spacing was increased - I thought dam - I need to clean house. Then I realized the spacing had changed. I have numerous folders full that spanned the height of my screen – it looked like crap and required much more mouse movement. So yes - it bugged me.
From what I gathered - the change was to accommodate tablet and smart phone users using a finger - not a mouse pointer. A reasonable accommodation for sure but I’m hoping they give users the option to choose different spacing.
When the list over fills your screen vertically - a little arrow appears at the bottom of the list. So you have to move your mouse all the way down to the bottom of your screen and push on the arrow and the list scrolls up to view the rest of the list. If you didn’t find the link you were looking for because you have to dam many bookmarks saved and you’re not sure where it is - you have to move your mouse back up to the top arrow that appears when the list scrolls up from pushing the bottom arrow. And so-on.
