Google image search yourself

No pictures of me, but the first image for both A and B is to the cover of a CD that I recorded with the St. Louis Chamber Chorus on which I am credited as a soloist

Holy crap! I’m the first picture on the first page. Just using Firstname Lastname brought up a shot of my wife and I from my high school reunion that was 6 years ago.

My wife, on the other hand, doesn’t show up anywhere. (The caption on the reunion picture is “Chock’s real name and his wife”)

I have the same name as a former semi-famous NBA player, so I got nuthin’.

It appears that my name is really not as unique as I thought. Just doing the first AND last name search I got 775 hits.

Did the image search and I’m FIRST PAGE/FIRST PIC for my Classmates, com profile!!

Whoot! Whoot!

There was really no need for me to exclude Facebook or MySpace (I did, tho) since I don’t use my REAL first name on either of those sites.

I have several hundred pictures of me on facebook, and not a single one of them appears on a google of “first name last name”. In fact, not a single picture of me appears period.

You people need to lock down your privacy settings!

There are six of me online. Two of the six live in my hometown. I saw my local other on tv last night and almost crapped myself. I sometimes get his mail, and a stripper called for him to my parents house when i was in jr. high.

there are no pictures of me online.

my most famous counterpart is an SF writer in the same vein as Philip K. Dick. he’s not too bad at that.

I am impossible to find. And I like it that way.

There’s an actor with my name. There’s also a musician and several business owners with my name so I was VERY surprised that a pic of me from classmates showed up on only page 3.

If I exclude Facebook, I couldn’t find any of me or related to me in twenty pages. If I include it, then there is a small thumbnail of me on the first page from my Facebook page, and that’s it.

Neither brought up anything in the first half-dozen pages, even including MySpace and Facebook.

Even my near universal username doesn’t bring up much. Just one stylized icon from a years old picture.

My name is fairly uncommon. The first picture is me (from my university’s website). The second is the cover of my book (from the publisher’s website). The book cover actually comes up a lot more times than pictures of me do–6 times on the first page, vs. only 3 pictures of me.

I have a fairly common first and last name, so I was surprised that I turned up on page 6. I didn’t exclude anything, just searched on Firstname Lastname.

Mr. S’s first and last names are both unusual, and his first name can be a surname. So I gave up after 20 pages. Then I tried enclosing the name in quotes and got a few images related to someone whose surname is “Firstname-Lastname.” Huh.

This is what happens for me – I get lots of pictures of my book cover, then pictures from web sites that cite my book, or pictures of the covers of books that either I cite, or cite me.

Even if I include facebook and myspace I’m nonexistent on google. Good to know. I’ve google search myself periodically just to make sure and so far the only things that ever come up linked to me is some random petition I signed and a CD review I wrote.

Yay for anonymity!

Why did nobody tell me!?!?!? I have my first paid gig tomorrow and I WANT.

When googling my first and last name, almost all the pictures are of shoes and purses. I knew from googling my name that someone sold a shoe with my name, but I don’t understand the purses. There are only two of us anywhere with my first and last name, and it doesn’t seem as though there are pictures of the other woman out there, either.

First picture was of me, from the web page of a university committee I serve on. Beyond that, just lots of reinforcement that there are very few people in my generation with my first name. I’m all the time hearing, “That was my mother’s [or grandmother’s or great aunt’s] name!”

Huh. I have a pretty common name, so I expected a lot of results, but they’re weird. Pictures of battleships, flowers, a telescope, random people with names nothing like mine, a reproduction of a tourist map of San Francisco. I’ve looked at a few of them and can’t find any reference to me or, in most cases, the name of my home town.

No pics of me, though.

Option (a): I had to go to the last image on page 4 (result #72) to find a photo that had nothing to do with me.

Option (b): On page 2 (result #27) there’s one that has nothing to do with me.

I’m easy to find.

Does it strike anyone else as odd when you see a picture with your name underneath it and you look up to see a smiling person who is not you? It feels really strange to me.
