Googling my full name (with middle names spelled out), I get no results for the phrase in quotes; Google tries to parse it down, but the results aren’t me.
Googling my name with just one of the middle names, I get a page of results about me, all Usenet posts.
Googling my first & last name, in quotes, I find no results about me before at least page 10; I lost interest after that.
Googling not my legal name, but the nickname most people know me by in real life, I find the second entry on the first page relevant.
Googling my writing pseudonym, I find most of the results about me.
About half the “Skald the Rhymer” results are about me–all the them on the first few pages.
Full name (first-middle-last): Very first entry
First/last: Very first entry, but different from above
Middle/last (what I most commonly go by): Very first entry, but different from the other two.
SDMB handle: 2nd entry (Dope-related)
Other common internet handle: Very first entry (different from all the others)
Needless to say, I have a very unusual and unique name.
Full name: Exactly four hits. All me. Actually it’s the same hit on four websites.
SDMB hande: Second page, referring to a question in which I was trying to identify a Jewish comedian.
“Firstname Lastname” – Oh! I now have a result on the first page due to something I posted on WikiAnswers recently. I’m surprised because there’s a computer science professor and author with the same uncommon name. Aside from that, the next entry referring to me (the one that I’ve seen in the past) is on the third page of results.
With my first and last name in quotes, I’m the last two entries on the first page, and I’m the third image.
I don’t normally use my middle name, so I didn’t expect to find anything on my full name, but there are 12 hits – all me. However, none of my names, by itself is all that unusual.
“First middle last”. all in quotes - the very first entry is a “missing persons” list from my college graduating class back in 1969. I’m guessing they want to find me and my brethren missing alumni so that they can ask for donations
"First Last"inside quotes - third entry is me because of a freeware program I helped develop aways back. The rest are for other people, including several for a gay Irish folksinger. Hey! I’m straight!!!
Full name with quotes: no results
Full name w/out quotes: half a million results; none about me
First/last name with quotes: first link on the second page is me
First/last name w/out quotes: same as above
SDMB handle: 8 pages before getting one of my SDMB posts. Most were foreign language.
Other common username: First link, to my fantasy baseball account
“First Last” - first entry, but it’s very old. Looks like it was pulled from my work’s website about 4 or 5 years ago. Only 24 hits overall, and most were from those “we can find info on anyone!” type sites.
Bing only had 4 hits, they all were me. I have an unusual name. And I don’t do the social networking thing. This is about as social as I get (apart from playing EQ2).
“Black Goddamn Rabbit”: First result. It’s a local newspaper article about the pavilion where my ex-wife and I had our wedding reception. It was a brand new banquet center, and we were the first reception they booked.
“Black Rabbit”: #7 - my personal home page. I share a name with an (apparently) renowned microbiologist and a Z-list Irish television personality.
I did a version of this thread with image search almost exactly a year ago. The first actual picture of me that shows up is from an awful date I had last year that was mortifyingly documented by a photographer from a local entertainment paper, though mercifully, it’s on the second page of thumbnail results.
The first four entries, either with or without my middle initial, are all me.
My full name, with middle name written out, returns my bachelor’s thesis as the first entry (!)
If I enter CalMeacham the seventh and eighth entries are my Teemings articles
I should add that I have six-letter name that I use on some other boards, and on Flickr. Google it, and you get 273 hits, in a wide range of languages (including Chinese, Hebrew and Japanese), all referring to me. Most of the references are credits for Flickr photos of mine that they are using, e.g., on this Japanese page about King Richard III of England.
middlename (name I actually use) lastname = first hit, “ratemyprofessors,” rest of first page lead to the institution where I teach, all about me.
firstname middlename lastname = e-familytree.com “700,000 people connected with European Royalty” (whatever), but the entry is me. Only two hits
firstinitial middlename lastname (how I usually present professionally) = all hits for two pages are about me, from my college website or some genealogy website with my family.
If I search my maiden name, I get one results page where 5 of the 7 entries are me. If I search my married, much more common name, I get my Facebook profile hit on the first page and my twitter feed on the third and then nothing for at least 10 more pages where I stopped looking.
