This just in:
Go to Google and type in the phrase " french military victories". If you click “I’m feeling luck” and you are asked if you mean ** french military defeats **. Just thought that I would share.

It usually asks on similar topics that have more pages devoted to them. In this case, I guess French Military victories garners less pages.
Take a closer look at the site it takes you to. It’s something within the domain name albinoblacksheep.com.
It IS nicely doctored up to look like a Google page, though. Sort of amusing.

Amusing for a second or two.
So how does this doctored page business work? Is it Google sponsored, or what? I think that what is freaking me out here is that I had (naively I admit) tended to look as search engines in general, and Google specifically as apolitical resources, intended only to help you find stuff on the web. This is the first whiff of an agenda that I have seen, and it bothers me.
No no, it’s a real page hosted on a different website. Because it matches the search terms, and has been a popular “hit” (presumably through other people linking to it), it gets returned as a genuine search result.
I imagine Google wouldn’t be too happy about the use of their logo. Could they demand that it’s taken down, or would it be regarded as “fair use” for satire purposes?
I like how so many of the top search results are all about how to get the #1 site.
What do they call this again? Google bombing?
