Google maps street view and driving games?

I think we can all agree that the google maps street view function is pretty nifty. I was wondering though, it can’t take very much more advances in technology before that data could be used to create tracks and stages for driving games can it?

Imagine Gran Turismo (for example) where you could race the cars around roads known to you?

Or is that crazy talk? :smiley:

MTA: If the driving physics are up to snuff, and they are able to get enough verisimilitude on roadside objects (traffic lights, McDonald’s, pedestrians, etc.), this will be a dream come true for me. Imagine a bunch of gearheads doing a coast-to-coast race over 24+ hours!
