Go to http://www.google.com, type “miserable failure”, and click “I’m feeling lucky.” Google automatically sends you to the most appropriate website.
Yes. It’s called Google-Bombing. It’s a joke, and proves nothing except there’s quite a few people who don’t like Bush.
See Snopes: http://www.snopes.com/politics/bush/google.asp
Yep. It’s a google bomb. Where is the Great Debate?
Indeed. This seems to be more like MPSIMS territory.
You are correct, dalovindj. There is no longer any debate that GWB is a miserable failure.
However, this should have been a BBQ Pit thread. I was careless, and would be fine with having it moved.
Since this thread is fizzling, a quick question: is there some website with a repository for humorous google bombs? Or are they pretty much passed along by word of mouth?
Is Google™, itself, responsible for the gag from the OP?
I was under the impression that it was, generally, the result of outside pranksters using their blogs (as noted in this definition and this Op Ed piece from Microcontent News).
If this is the case, the blog targets (and hence the bombs) could change on a daily basis. (I somewhat expect some sort of bomb war between supporters of GW Bush and supporters of the Democratic candidate next summer, where something like “worst presidential candidate” seesaws back and forth between whitehouse.gov (or the re-elect GWB home page) and the Democratic front-runner’s homepage, each page being the target of “I’m Feeling Lucky” on alternate days.)
