Everyone who keeps saying “this thread is vile” needs to reread the OP and then reread DDG’s second response. Seriously.
Jar had, as well as others, an issue with DDG. She wrote a restrained OP. DDG came in, guns a blazing and blew up. That’s your ‘meltdown’, ladies and gents right there. When she was questioned by anyone, including a mod, she gave histronic answers. “But who will answer all these questions? I want cites! It’s not fair!” and so on.
If DDG feels it’s her job to answer every GQ/remind people of rules/lead the newbies, that’s her perogative. If I’m annoyed by it, that’s mine.
Don’t you people have LIVES to get back to?

Ducky was called out for her “junior modding” way back in May, 2000. By me, in fact. It was so long ago that she wasn’t even Duck Duck Goose yet. I dug up that moldy oldie just for curiosity’s sake.
I don’t find Duck Duck Goose annoying. I did find Notthemama, her previous incarnation, extremely annoying. It seems like the same behaviors, except for the Googling, are being discussed now.
And I’d just like to add that I only answer GQ questions where I think I have something to add beyond what can be gleaned with a Google search. I’m surprised that you think people just Google in an effort to find answers for people. To me, the unique strength of GQ is that you can get answers from actual people with actual expertise, not just unverified factoids.
