Google Voice invites?

I’m needing a google voice invite. Just found out its “invite only”, but it’s impossible for me to be patient any longer.

Any tips on getting an invite. I did submit my email address to google, but this doesn’t seem to be an overnight thing.

can invites be transferred? I’ve seen a few discussions on the topic here so I thought I’d give it a post.

Look it up on the Google Voice website. There are two versions. One of them simply replaces your cell phone’s voicemail with Google voicemail emailed to you and texted to your phone. The other version gives you a new phone number, which you can have rung through to any or all of your phones at the same time. If you don’t answer it, this also then goes to google’s voicemail which is sent to your email and texted to your phone. I use this version so I don’t have to give out my home phone number to crazy clients, and so I don’t have to give out 2 different phone numbers to people so I don’t miss their calls.

Google Voice

Google Voice is a telecommunications service by Google[1] launched on March 11, 2009. The service is provided to a U.S. phone number, chosen by the user from available numbers in selected area codes, free of charge to each user account. Inbound calls to this number are forwarded to other phone numbers of the subscriber. Outbound calls may be placed to domestic and international destinations by dialing the Google Voice number or from a web-based application.[2] Inbound and outbound calls to U.S. (including Alaska and Hawaii) and Canada are free of charge.[3] International calls are billed according to a schedule posted on the Google Voice website.

What does it do? I use it almost exclusively as a free SMS service, thought it’s also useful as a call screening interface and the ability to make/place calls from your computer (and headset).
